Several key observations, TN defense was fine. Not great but not bad for a first game. The offense was bad everywhere. They were not physical, did not play through the whistle. If Hurd does not get the ball he is terrible at blocking which is 100% on him. That is just lazy. No reason he should not put someone on the ground. Recievers don't block . On the winning touchdown the reciever has good leverage and excellent position and he barely touches the defender. The O-Line could not handle the stunting which means they are really slow or poorly prepared. The initial engagement was good but the Ap State players were off the block quickly and moving up field. Hard to say about Dobbs. There was only two times in the game when he got to comfortably sit in the pocket. Both were good plays to Malone. The rest of the time was a jailbreak right up the middle. No quarteback can handle that all night. Bottom line is these guys are better than they showed and lacked intensity or they are poorly prepared. Both of the problem are on the coaching STAFF. Not jus Butch but the individual coaches all need to look in the mirror because their talent did not play to the level they should.
