No offense to Bama fans, but regardless of who we might think would win on a neutral field, the fact remains that no 2 loss team, let alone one that didn't even play in their conference CG deserves to make the playoffs. Even if TCU loses their CG they deserve to get in before Bama. If USC loses, Ohio St. will get the final spot. Personally, if you don't at least make your title game you shouldn't get in the playoffs. I know 2017 Bama did & won it all, but that team at least only had 1 loss. Bama should be playing in the Sugar Bowl.
I think it's a bad rationale to say the Dawgs & Vols play anyway, so it doesn't matter. 1. It let's the CFP Committee off the hook 2.These rankings set a precedent for decisions down the road. Ex. The Tide wins out & TCU wins out. Who's in? Obviously a 1 loss SEC Champ. How about the the SEC team that came into that game unbeaten? Especially if it's 1 loss TN who beat the Tide already... The Committee needs to be accountable for their decisions. Corrigan's explanation for choosing the Buckeyes over the Dawgs was lame. His answer for the Tide over the Frogs was also weak. No consistency. The Bear called them out correctly. Make them show their votes & explain what factors are given more weight than others so that they're transparent...
The tweets were out of line & uncalled for, however; they were not mocking the OU & ND. They were aimed at the playoff committee. That being cleared up, the Dawgs needed to back up those tweets but didnt. They were resoundly beaten by Texas...
The appropriate response is the Sugar Bowl should have meant everything to Georgia which had am opportunity to show the college football world that they belonged in the CFP. Instead, the game showed a Texas team that wanted very badly to get back to national relevancy & a Georgia team that either didn't want to be there or took this game lightly or both. Give credit Texas for executing a great game plan against a Georgia team missing their Thorpe award winning DB Baker, their best pass rusher Walker, best tackler Rice, man in the middle NG Davis, 4 back-up D-lineman, & the DC Mel Tucker. Not to mention the Fields distraction. In spite of all of this, Georgia still should have came out & made a good showing. Since your a Bama fan I'll say this, Saban always insures the Tide shows up! So kudos to them. Hope they represent for the SEC Monday night...
Jadon mentioned back up schools Miami & Auburn earlier this year. If a recruit is solidly commited, they don't mention potential back up plans, at least not publicly. He also said he wanted to see how the offense performed. Maybe he didn't like the block to play theme at Georgia. Either way, he's a great talent that would enhance our offense, but not sure the Dawgs need or want a player who's not 100% commited to the program...
