You do realize you actually have to win ONE to even begin a dynasty, right? A 40 year drought doesn’t qualify…….hell, it’s seven in a row, just to Bama. Clemson at least won a couple before they started talking dynasty, and we see how that’s turned out. If UGA wants ONE, they better get it tonight against this young Bama team, because if they don’t, it’s most likely a 3peat for them next year. The underclass is LOADED, while UGA defense is gonna take a hit……
Will Bama use the underdog role? I’m sure they will. Will UGA be motivated by the SEC loss? How could they not be? It will come down to execution in the end. There is an even larger thing at play, IMO. Pressure to win. That is a lopsided advantage. This UGA team has the pressure of 40 years without a title. Seven losses in a row to Alabama. Three really huge losses in recent history and the devastating loss in the SEC championship game just a couple of weeks ago. I can’t think of any team in the country that could be under more pressure. That’s from the head coach down to the long snapper. For what it’s worth, Bennett is a solid QB, not great, but plays really well when there is no pressure. Man, the amount of pressure he must be feeling right about now, no matter how he tries to downplay it. He’s lost twice in a row, and didn’t look great doing it. In fact, as the pressure grew, his play went down hill fast. If there wasn’t enough pressure, it’s the National Title game. You can say the same thing about Kirby. His most knuckleheaded calls have came on the big stage, under pressure. UGA is a very good team, but when the pressure is on, I’ll ride with Young and Saban. Roll Tide.
What should really make you think for a minute is, Alabama played as badly as they had all year in 3 quarters of both games, had a QB on one leg for 3 quarters in one of them, while Fromm and UGA couldn’t make a mistake for the first 3 quarters in both games. They still lost. What happens when healthy Tua plays with Alabama hitting on all cylinders and UGA not at their best?
Not being certain of what Fromm will do is the biggest reason for a move now. It takes that out of the equation. He’s going to sit for the most part at UGA next year. He can transfer, sit out a red shirt year, unless getting a waiver, and it won’t matter if Fromm goes to the NFL or not. The tricky part is finding a place where he fits in that doesn’t have an entrenched starter.
But they’ll still have the coaching staff that thought it was a good game plan to go conservative in the second half. As the article says, you’ll need a secondary too because Tua torched the one you ran on the field last year. That’s what lost the game against Alabama, but the loser mentality is always to blame the ref. I expect that same attitude if the two meet again this year.
Lol....how’s that fence around the state that Kirby built holding up? Looks like most of the states top 20 players will be playing out of state. A higher fence might be in order......
No, not exactly like Hurts. Hurts actually has an arm, he just turns to his legs before he gives himself a chance to really use it. This kid does have a sub par arm and is 35 lbs or so lighter than Hurts. He’ll not hold up doing what hurts does. He’d probably make a decent slot guy though.
Stating the obvious. He’s rated as a 4 star athlete, not QB. I’m sure he has skills or he wouldn’t have the athlete rating but he doesn’t look the part of an SEC QB and certainly doesn’t have the stats that lead you to belive he could be. The QB prospects for 2019 haven’t gone well for UGA, so having a body that can be the 3rd guy, after the 3rd string kid transferred is a need. He’ll play baseball too he says, so if he can redshirt, he’ll still have an opportunity to earn a position that suits him on the football field. It just won’t be QB. What part of that doesn’t make sense? Now if you’re seriously thinking the kid is QB material, perhaps you should take Kirby’s job because you’d have to be a much better QB whisperer than what they have.
Wow. This means UGA couldn’t get a much needed QB in this class. This 4 star ATHLETE wouldn’t be ranked at the QB position with that kind of production. Pretty much a wasted scholarship for a bad insurance policy. Maybe if they get a QB in next years class, they can move him to a position he’ll actually have a shot of playing at the college level.
I believe the SEC should allow players to go where they want but in Saban's defense, the rule was in place when he chose to go there. You could almost feel sympathy for him as a graduate if he had simply said Georgia has a good class for my next degree, instead of they run a similar defense and I comfortable with the coaches. If that's your motivation for going there, there's no difference in you and a nongraduate. Your going there for sports.
