I'm a die hard Auburn fan and try to assess this issue without bias, but seriously, people need to lay off Saban. He is hired to win football games which he does very very well. If anyone wants to blame someone or cite carelessness then they should read the DA's comments. The DA could have taught these guys a very valuable lesson by at least making them go through the legal process. Make them really "sweat" a bit and then reduce charges down to a ciration or community service. Instead he only showed those young men that it is okay to break the law and he took from them a very valuable quality that our nation seems to lack today . . . The chance to learn Accountability.
On a positive note, character is not determined by immediate success which Malzahn was blessed to experience a few times at Auburn. Character is determined by how one gets up and perseveres after falling flat. In 2015 we fell flat. In 2016 we will see if Malzahn can persevere and overcome immense diversity by turning our program around. My money is on Malzahn to shock everyone and build an awesome team of underdogs for 2016. Lookout SEC West Auburn is coming . . .
From what I have always understood is that Rhett is a great coach that Malzahn could always count on but he didn't seem to bring much to the table. Rhett was responsible for QB development and did call some plays . . . But let's face it, QB play was horrible and so were many of the crucial plays that were called, mainly abandoning a successful run attack to switch to a miserable passing debacle.
LSU should hang on to Miles one more year because his curse of not being able to beat Bama may be over. Has anyone ever thought Saban may leave Bama and take the TN Titans head coach position? Before you dismiss this and say "he failed in Miami so he can't make with the big boys in the NFL" think again. The Dolphins gave Saban no control whereas the Titans would give him the keys to the castle. Saban is a Belechik in the making. . . So LSU's arch enemy, Saban, may be out next year too and if that were the case you can't tell me LSU fans would not want Miles.
LSU is pushing out Miles primarily because he can't beat Bama. I think LSU is making a big mistake but the truth is that as an Auburn fan I'm excited. LSU has beaten us 4 of the last 5 meetings so I can't wait for the chaos a new coach will bring the Bayou Bengals program.
WDE You are correct our Defense looked good and it will only get better for next season. It's offense I worry about.
Defenses have caught on to Malzahn's "smoke and mirrors" style of offense. His system does not work unless you have a dual threat mobile QB. Malzahn better hope that John Franklin III better perform because if we start next season with plans of Sean White or Jeremy Johnson being our starting QB then we are screwed. After Bama beats us Malzahn will be just 2 - 12 in last 12 SEC games. . . PATHETIC
