By Finebaum's philosophy, Michigan should be in the mix for the NC, because they "historically have a lot of cachet." While I'm not overly confident in Mizzou's chances in the SECCG, back-to-back East titles is nothing to gloss over. And while the disrespect Mizzou routinely has to tolerate is based on decades of ineptitude, there's no denying that they've earned their place as an annual Top 25 team under Pinkel. The beauty of sports is that the results are objective (figure skating and gymnastics excepted), and the thing that counts is the "W" column.

While I would love to see Mizzou get respect, I'm also aware of the fact that after decades of ineptitude, respect won't come overnight. But that's cool. We're getting there.

Agreed. He tries to make the storyline, instead of discovering it (to paraphrase Madden). And he either has a tenuous grasp on the finer points of football, or he's getting too old to keep up with the modern game. I was so excited about the SEC Network, in part because there would be games I could watch on Saturday night without having to listen to Musberger. You can imagine my disappointment.

Unacceptable performance. Especially against a a Big Ten doormat.
