Fedora wasn't much at UNC until Chizik showed up. Those fans, what little they have, wanted him out until this season. Fedora would be smart to leave Chapel Hill before the NCAA drops the hammer, but I just don't see one good season with UNC in a weak Coastal Division year to be the right move for the Dawgs.
Bingo! Thank you. Great point that I didn't even get to the first go-round. And to "SKKZH," sure you could say that. But if you're playing the "what if" game, then what if UGA batted the ball down last year and wasn't intercepted in the UGA/AU game? What if, UA didn't run back the field goal attempt in the Iron Bowl? Playing the what if scenario doesn't put Auburn in the BCSCG last year against FSU. Not trash talking the wins, just saying. We could continue the what if game... What if Todd Gurley wasn't suspended? What if Todd Gurley didn't get called back on a "hold" at Carolina. What if the ball spot at Carolina was given a go ahead on a 1st down. What if Georgia had of showed up prepared to win and not overlook Florida last week. If that's the case, then without a doubt I think you have an undefeated Georgia team in a top 4 slot for the playoffs right now. But that's all what-ifs. It's a game. You win some. You lose some. Some are just worse than others. Just not going to happen. When he starts dropping games like UF and USC have done this year, then we'll talk about letting Mark Richt being let go. As much of a fool Jimbo Fisher seems to be these days, think FSU fans and talking heads would be saying its time for a coaching change had FSU dropped that game to NC State? Nope!
Dawgs are fine under Richt, and to let him go would be a terrible mistake. Problem is, you get a bunch of restless fans who see what Alabama and Auburn have done in recent years and they want the same. Richt has built a pretty stable program during his tenure, and will likely continue to do so. Letting him go, and you are already setting yourself backwards. New systems, new coordinators, ect... You think folks are restless now, imagine how they'd want to fire a first year coach when they don't a make a bowl, and everyone is wanting Mark Richt back. Thing is here, wins shut this "crowd" up. Had Aaron Murray spiked the ball, had the of beat Alabama in the SECCG two years ago, they'd of likely gone to the BCSCG and would have taken care of Notre Dame themselves. Had that of happened, no one would be having this conversation right now.
There would still be games without cable, still the ESPN on ABC regional games at 3:30, national 8:00 game on ABC, and whatever BigXII game hits Fox. Positive side for me personally would be NO more ACC overlap. Living in North Carolina, ACC has a 12:30 slot with Raycom Sports and is picked up by the CBS affiliate. Ultimately means those games end roughly around 4, and you miss the first 30 mintues of the SEC on CBS broadcast. The CBS affiliate makes up for it by moving the 3:30 SEC game to a non HD secondary network until the ACC game ends. Absolutely frustrating! What it does mean is that it'll likely move to one of the ESPN family of networks and make it unavailable outside of cable/satellite. Highly doubt ABC would give up its regional 3:30 slot for a national SEC broadcast. FOX has the BigXII deal, so its not going there. That leaves what, MY(insert city) network, The CW network, PBS..well we know that's not going to happen. What I could see though is CBS wanting to retain rights for the Georgia / Florida game and the SEC Championship. Beyond that, they'll probably let it go for the the NFL.
