Too scared to throw the ball in the rain, too scared to let your best FG kicker try a game winning FG because it's too far, too scared to go for it on short yardage plays (accept for the one time in the game that they telegraphed to the Kentucky defense and everyone watching in the stadium and on tv what they were going to do and after the announcers said UGA had trouble with under center snaps all week in practice and they miserably failed)=too scared to win games when it counts against tougher opponents. I am seeing a continuing theme. Don't see a win against UF. Nothing changes from week to week. Don't expect any against UF unless the defense can score 4 TDs.
I believe the main problem with Smart is he is too stubborn to change his offensive philosophy. The problem with that is in the long term recruits will see, or already do, that he mismanages his offensive weapons. Where is James Cook, tight ends, Zamir White in the ND game, RB catching balls out of the back field, receivers or tight ends across the middle of the field, deep balls, a actual punt return, mismanagement of Fields(not that he would have been right for his offense). Not to mention the most idiotic play calls: the fake FG in the LSU game, the fake punt in the SECCG with Fields, deciding not try a FG with the game on the line against USCe with one of the best FG kickers in the game, and consistent time mismanagement. I believe offensive recruits will see this as time goes on, if not corrected, and start deciding not to come to UGA. These things have been consistent throughout his first 3 1/2 years. I understand there is a learning curve and am not advocating a coaching change. My biggest concern is Smart's seemingly inability to want to adapt or correct these glaring problems. Especially offensively. UGA will not be able to compete with the upper echelon of CFB if he continues this trajectory or simply doing the same thing over and over again and expecting the same outcome. He can get away with beating lesser teams(except USCe) with shear talent but when facing equal or more talented teams that will not be the case. That's where coaching comes in. I don't think Smart is at that level coaching wise. Two coaches in the recent past have decided to adapt their offensive philosophies, Saban and Ogeron, and have been wildly successful. I hope Smart will be wise and do the same.
