You are 100% correct Mountain Dog. Programs in FL, GA, TX, and CA have 100’s of in-state D1 recruits to choose from. Border state programs get most of the benefit as well. Nebraska needs to look at coaches who build consistently winning programs outside the footprint. Wisconsin, Iowa, Kentucky come to mind
Perhaps the dysfunction and failure on the field is but a reflection of the turmoil between arrogant boosters, an inept Athletic Dept and fans who cannot accept that they have been lapped by better programs
Irresistible ate paint chips as a child.
Yer Tide already mastered the art of being overrated in Austin yesterday. Same defense that gave up 50+ points to Kansas in a loss last year stymied the Tide all day yesterday.
Yeah, we appreciate 'Tide' fans complete disregard for basketball.....and for allowing us to pluck Eric Bledsoe and Demarcus Cousins out of Alabama and send both to the league. Kentucky is a less than average football program because the state only produces 10-15 division 1 football players per year, compared to FL, GA, TX, LA, AL which produce between 75-300 per year.......Alabama basketball is less than average because you guys just don't care.
Kentucky is a strong possibility for Damien.....might come down to the choice of new OC for the Cats.
Dude took money for autographs and admitted it, knowing it would jeopardize his amateur status and very well COULD HAVE COST HIS TEAM TO FORFEIT GAMES. This is a dainty wrist slap compared to NCAA reactions to similar situations in the past.
Yeah, the rule was absolutely draconian and ridiculously harsh. It's also not applied evenly and since the NCAA doesn't use case precedence they can pretty much do what they want. That's why their teeth have been pulled completely now.....they brought about their own demise.
UMass didn't know Marcus Camby had taken money from an agent but reported it when they found out. NCAA forced UMASS to forfeit every game he participated in after the money was accepted.
So he accepted PAYMENT for autographing memorabilia and 'cooperated fully' once he was caught. The payments occurred over 3 years and one would have to assume he PLAYED IN GAMES during that time. How does 'strict liability' not apply here? Doesn't taking money mean he forfeited his status as an amateur and then he played? Why doesn't the NCAA rule him retroactively ineligible and make Georgia forfeit games like they have done to programs before?
Towles numbers in that game were better than Prescott's. He's really progressing well.
KY is rising, but a few years away from being competitive against the SEC West.
When did he accept the money? Does accepting money mean he lost his amateur status and is an 'ineligible player' under the NCAA strict liability guidelines? If he participated in games after he admitted accepting money will those games need to be forfeited? These are the consequence questions that need an answer.
