Sure, there is SOME need for concern after Louisville, but the amount of hate poured on Johnson is unwarranted. To be able to make those kind of mistakes AND come away with a W is certainly a good thing. Now if corrections aren't made then AU is in for a long season, but I don't see that playing out. Gus/Lashlee will have him playing well come week 3 for LSU.
...and even Stinchcomb gives this game to AU (one of the two predictors). The host settles any ties.
Yes, they did, but it was two different sets of guys making the predictions.
It seems like every year I'm asking myself, "Wait....Mitchell hasn't graduated yet?!". But, of course, I wouldn't be asking that if he wasn't making his presence felt.
You mean like they do now? Zing!!!
Yeah, even I'm scratching my head over the inclusion of Adams. He's certainly got potential, and he may even reach some of that this year, but yeah....not a top DT in the league.
I'd personally like to see Marcus Davis have a breakout year. He's been situationally clutch in key moments (esp 2013). No problem with Lewis stepping up more though..
Yeah this stinks. Nobody wants to play a team not at full strength. Hope for a swift recovery for JW.
I've said it here before and I'll say it again. If you don't know what's so special about Jeremy Johnson then you simply haven't been paying attention. Not that I blame you...I don't keep track of player X who hasn't played much SEC ball. He will be Auburn's MVP at the end of the year. Having him at 10 is a good spot considering who's in front of him. Similarly, Fornette got a bunch of pre season hype last year, and guess what? He delivered! Wow, imagine that? There's zero reason to think Johnson will be average. Every time he's had an opportunity, he's shined.
lol, try actually filling Neyland first. Or, ya know, being relevant.
I tend to agree that folks are sleeping on them. I think they could end up higher than LSU or Ole Miss. But on the flip side of the coin, if you think A&M's D will be up to par with normal Chavis LSU defenses, then I think that's a mistake.
Kudos to Tom Jurich, Louisville's AD. He isn't shying away from major non-conference teams with Auburn this year and Bama in '18.
I see your point. Vegas actually has Chubb as the (SEC) front runner at 9/1 while Johnson is sitting at 12/1 odds. I think Brad probably just gives the edge to Johnson simply due to the fact that the Heisman favors QB over RB. To be fair, Dak is also 12/1 but let's be honest about where we expect Miss St and Auburn to end up at the end of the season.
Yeah, those that don't see what's special about Jeremy Johnson simply haven't been paying attention. He'll certainly be one of the top players in the conference and perhaps POTY, but he'll have some good competition from Chubb, and Fournette. Not Dak. Not Henry.
I plan on doing this as my DirecTV contract ends early Sep (perfect timing). I've already tested out the free trial for Sling, so I know it works fine. Antenna for the local channels, and I'll be set! Very ready to save about $75 a month.
So then why not reduce the plays to....zero! NO INJURIES YAY! These kids know what they sign up for. Its football. I would more agree with what bobsentell says below about limiting overall game time (Hi CBS!). This was never going to amount to anything, because, well, it's ridiculous.
I'm sure as an Auburn fan you noticed, but during the "Prayer at Jordan Hare" Verne literally yells out "OH NO!!". Why would you ever say that as a broadcaster in that situation?? I assumed it was meant like "Oh no, UGA's mighty comeback is dashed!". Typical.
Haha, I was thinking the exact same thing.
This is essentially the ONLY thing we SEC fans can agree on....nobody wants Verne! Danielson is OK.
Or that Miss St has somehow arrived because they finally beat LSU. It's still Miss St y'all. They will find ways to lose.
He's too cute. As an Auburn fan, I'll gladly trade him Bama, LSU, SCar, and UGA for Mich, USC, FSU, and Stanford.
