I tend to agree with Finebaum on this. Kiffin's contract expires when the season is over. Saban has made no indication he plans to renew it. To me, bringing in Sark reveals Saban is planning on moving him into the OC position. As far as Kiffin going to LSU, if he doesn't get a HC offer, it could be a good move. If Coach O plans in offering him close to $2 million a year, and he would give Kiffin a much freer hand in things than Saban ever would.
Tech's academic standards make it very difficult to be highly competitive year in and out. You can have one or two good seasons back to back followed by some bad ones. Houston would be the ideal job for Kiffin. Herman is gone at the end of the year. Kiffin's offense with the talent Herman has assembled would be formidable. Houston is a big enough program for Kiffin to have a national stage, but small enough to hopefully keep him from flaming out.
If Kiffin gets an offer to Fresno State I believe he takes it. I don't think an AD at a major school is going to risk their job by taking a chance on him given his past stints as HC.
The honeymoon is definitely over for Kirby, but I say wait until the end of the season to see how things play out. I remember when Dabo Swinney took some bad losses his first couple of years at Clemson. Now he is considered one of the best coaches in football. Going from coordinator to head coach is a huge adjustment. Give it some time and see if he can pull it together.
No big deal. A head coach goes off on his OC or DC in the emotion of a game. It didn't look like Pruitt was firing back at Saban. More along the lines of, "I know it needs to be fixed and I'm working on it."
King seems pretty confident about the program. LSU is a good job, but if Texas fires Charlie Strong they have no chance of getting Tom Herman.
