This is awarded out to best Position Group, correct? Not best individual performances? In that case, how do you give best RB Position Group to LSU? LSU, against Syracuse, ran the ball 41 times for 268 yards. Fournette alone, beast that he is, accounted for only 26 of those carries and 244 yards. That leaves 15 carries for the other backs to only account for 24 yards (measly 1.6 y/c average). While Fournette's performance was outstanding, the rest of the LSU stable of Running Backs performed well below average. I may be biased and the competition wasn't as stiff, but every UGA RB had a very solid day. Take away the average Chubb day (15 carries and 131 yards), the rest of the RBs had 18 cumulative carries for 130 yards (7.2 y/c average). Regardless of the competition, if your position group as a whole can average that many yards per carry in a game, you've got a pretty darn good group. Best individual performance last week? Fournette's got that without question. But best overall position group? No. LSU had one back, not many, perform very well.
It couldn't hurt that two of the three of them actually have played the game and understand what the hell is really going on, eh?
So you're pissed that he's actually a decent human being and wants people to succeed before anything else, right? I'm sorry; when did empathy and being a caring person become a negative character trait? Winning isn't everything, bud. Believe it or not, there's actually more important things in life than winning a game.
I think McGarity was offered the selection and turned it down. In all honestly I can see why: we've played B1G teams every Bowl for what feels like an eternity and haven't traveled anywhere aside from FL for awhile. It would be better for the program to increase the diversity and go play an ACC team (the third in the year, and all top programs in the Conference) and get the chance to generate headlines with the Grantham story while allowing the players to experience something outside of a Tampa Bowl. Since the only Bowl that really mattered, the Citrus Bowl, passed on us for a team we were both ranked above and splattered during the year the only thing that mattered was choosing our Bowl. Personally, I'd have rather taken something in Louisiana since every Bowl is on equal standing now, but I'm actually somewhat intrigued by the Louisville match-up the more that I think about it.
I was a student in 2012. I still remember the Hero's welcome that team received when the buses pulled in that night after such a gut-wrenching loss. Never have I ever been as proud of our boys than I was that night, and the students welcomed them back with cheers - not jeers. 2012 was a special team and even though the records may not show it that game was the true National Championship. It was the only game where I completely froze (not even the prayer at J-H did that) when the ball fell into Conley's hands. Greatest SEC championship since the turn of the century and possibly the best ever.
You guys do realize that his suspension wasn't handed down from the NCAA, right? This was UGA Athletics all the way; as far as I know the NCAA hasn't even gotten involved yet. What's most likely happening is that McGarity has people investigating the claim and will make an announcement by Saturday morning on whether these accusations are factual or no. If so then I'm glad we're handling this now instead of later, like how USC never did with Bush. You DON'T want the NCAA involved in these matters so long as it can be prevented.
Incorrect again, blitz. Richt won the SEC in his first year: 2001.
In Tuberville's ten-year tenure at AU he only won one SEC title which was in 2004. Your argument is? In the years prior to Saban Alabama hadn't won 9 games since Shaun Alexander. West vs East is only an argument for these past two years. Historically it's been cyclical and you will see the East take back the crown just like they did during the Spurrier FL years and the late-90s Tenn teams in the coming decade.
You are aware that Mark Richt has not once in his 14 years at the program missed a Bowl game, right? He's also won 2 SEC titles, won the East 5 times, and has won more games at UGA than anyone aside from Dooley - who he is on pace to beat if he stays as long as Dooley did.
