The offense started the season with 2 returning starters, jake proved to be a great leader. The next starter may miss derrick and ryan but he will have an experienced, very talented receiving corp.
Coker is not slow, go back and watch the ole miss game along with several others. He played the entire season with a broken big toe and he separated his shoulder in the LSU game. That changed his running style, physically, but slow he is not. Ask people that have played with him. Arm strength is tremendous, but above all, he plays to win, always has been a team player and does what it takes.
Coker's problem was not so much learning the offense, hint: he ran the offense from the huddle, that requires the qb to understand the defense and set the protections. His biggest problem was knee surgery in June that hampered him the entire season. Family told me that, not Jake, he does not make excuses. Getting the players trust and getting the timing down with the receivers was hampered greatly because he lost time with them that he could not afford to lose.
