As soon as Jimbo indicated he'd rather be the big fish in a small pond, everything started falling into place. I'm sure at least one of the decision makers referenced Nebraska, who fires coaches with 9-3 or 9-4 records and find themselves mired in almost a decade of 5-7 football. Unless they have a blue chip coach ready to jump in, any replacement for Miles is a sharp downgrade.
They may not have one something, but they have two, three and four'ed many things.
I assume you guys are enjoying watching UT implode as much as we are.
But can anybody tell me if this establishments buys books every day?
I too pull for my team and no-one else, but what that means is that I pull for whatever is in my team's best interests. If Tennessee or Auburn lose a non-conference game it hurts the conference, which hurts my team. Conference wins become less rewarding and conference losses become more damaging. When the SEC wins, all of our teams win.
That's an interesting way of handing out online awards.
I had to log in just to commend you on your screen handle.
That plaque is awesome, Lew! Love it.
Definitely a big culture difference between Big 12 and SEC in that regard. For me it's always rooting for any SEC team versus a non-SEC team. I know they're trying to build up Arkansas and Missouri as a rivalry, but that's going to take a very long time because we're all still way too busy hating KU. The only part of Arkansas that we dislike is the fact that it has the word "kansas" in it!
This isn't surprising. Look at it from an outsider's point of view: We beat A&M and Arkansas, both of whom only had a claim to fame that they were hot at the time but have otherwise had lackluster seasons. The only quality team we have played this year that has consistently been in the top 15 was Georgia and they destroyed us. And, of course, losing to Indiana is a very ugly loss. Finally, this team has a reputation for finding a way to win in the fourth quarter, snatching victory from the jaws of defeat. That's great and all, but not good as far as building a reputation as a top team.
If they moonwalked onto the field, I would've raised the money to pay the school's fine personally!
Yep. I speak for every Mizzou fan when I say that we hate kU infinitely more than any other team. We burned Lawrence, KS to the ground during the Civil War just ONE time and they hold a grudge! The only thing we dislike about Arkansas is that it has the word "kansas" in it.
I have to agree. Going into conference play I thought Mizzou would finish 7-5. Now if they lose to Arkansas and finish 9-3 it would be considered a disappointment by most fans. We are very lucky to call a 9-3 scenario a disappointment.
Alabama has more to lose than Missouri because a loss takes them out of the CFB playoff picture as well as the division (unless Ms St loses the Egg Bowl). If Alabama and Miss State lose, the SEC collective goes into mourning as a bunch of one-loss teams from crappy conferences go to the playoff.
Love my Tigers, but they have not won 10 straight bowl games. In fact, they are 6-4 in their last 10 bowls.
