Love my Tide program.. and all they have done there.. That being said I am also a huge supporter of quality programs ran right. Overall I am just a huge fan of the college game, but do admit that I have my 5 teams I truly follow.. Bama, Ole Miss, Cal, Stanford, and Auburn.... I even have a mutual respect for LSU when there not playing any of my "5".. Married, dog lover, construction guy enjoying life in the South.. Originaly from California but thats been ages ago.

Something tells me if this coach had the budget that Saban has coming from his athletic department, he would STILL find a way to screw things up.... Some coaches are born winners, and some look for excuses
I dont know about that.... we got some pretty "whiny" coaches in the SEC nad have HAD some in the past 10 years that I wish they would have just been removed..LOL.... Arkansas coaches ran a good run of whiny BS.... Ole South Carolina's retired coach was a huge winer.... Tennessee previous coaches were huge winers... hell even Saban spouts off a time or two ever so often... LOL
All the "Hiesmen " talk is to entice readers and sell articles ..... thats ALL it is...
This statement "Best back ever at Bama" seems to be said each and every year doesnt it.,.. Its got a very familiar tone to it... I think Trent Richardson was recruited at a higher mark than Derrick Henry was coming out wasnt he? I remember they had Trent Richardson rated as a "sure fire college CAN'T miss".... this kid I do believe surpasses that title now as far as what people tend to expect to see come from his time on campus.... I used to play ball against many kids from that area he comes from, there was when I was growing up all them years ago and I suppose it still rings true...there are some REALLY talented studd's still coming through....and the kids in that are are VERY mentally tuff... its not a slum but by no means really nice either generally speaking... I think this kid will do well as a freshman if Scarborough moves on...or even if he stays!!
Ya and theres always examples like ...well..like... Shula....and Namath.... come on man I hear what your saying and I appreciate your love for our school but dont respond so blindly... Alabama unless it changes things up REALLY quickly... IS, and NEVER has been a pro QB driven school.. You can love them all the same and still walk with your head held guy without being so narrow minded... If your a really talented QB coming out of high school ALabama relatively speaking (if your THAT ready for a pro career) would be a VERY poor choice in schools to go with.. There are easily 10 other schools more well prepared with a true name for themselves regarding developing TRUE NFL QB talent... and currently some of them school are not even successful... But they have made a name for themselves in this regard!! Alabama is nowhere near on that list .... But again I respect your being faithful to our program!! I read on ESPMN, must have been a type this kid runs a 5.11/ 40 yard dash.... that can NOT be true right? WHat is his 40 time?
There is a lot to still learn from this kid, but talent wise he has more of it (early on evaluations) than the other 4 collectively.. Scarborough is an absolute beast ... There has to be something there tho that we are not quite made aware of as of yet? Some backs like Henry get better the more you run them... some backs with all the talent , even if they are physical in play, are sometimes not as "tuff".. I dont see tuffness being the issue here...perhaps Saban just was really looking ahead.. and knew that Scarborough really is the key to our successful offense this year , he and Harris... and with limited scouting other than high school clips he knew he could take advantage of a very good situation in drowning defenses with Henry ( which really only started really happening the second half the season more) while top shelfing there freshman for this year... If it is successful its a brilliant plan... if not who knows... I think Scarborough is good for 1400+ this year in his "introduction - campaign" and Harris as well another 700... maybe 650... Lets hope
Absolutely Dale... I am on board with that.... this is where people "buying" in to what they read Monday morning in the box scores really seem's to show through. How could Swinney even remotely base his success on the statistics of a ball game? You know how many yards a team or individual has achieved in this sport based soley of "situtions"? A true butt beating doesnt hardly ever show in Box Scores... it doesnt.... Its kinda like saying "Washingtin State QB - Faulk is best QB in nation cause he throws for 600 yards in a game or even a half".... as opposed to Notre Dames QB who may have thrown for 90 yards by half.. Then look at score...and fact the defenses were selected to offer yards as opposed to helping teams in the red zones who struggle with it... Teams actually give up scores just as a swap for time spent.. Swinney can try and sell that to someone else... His QB got 400 yards, not sure what all came in that 3rd and 4th quarter but looking back the game I remember , we shut his QB down quite a bit..enough to stick out in my head.... I cant tell you all the times, back in the day, Dan Fouts and Richard Todd going at it... Chargers/Jets..and these guys for 3 quarters throwing maybe a 175 a piece.. then tied in 4th..and a OT later they each had 500 + yards... its real decieiving!!
I tell you what, that is a LOT of LOOT for a college strengthening coach... It shows the commitment the University has to its football team and why not? They bring in a ton of money for sure.. I hate it for the 900 assistant coaches out there and the 20 HC's... but this is where you understand being a consistent winner in a field of what over 120 other programs around the country... lets you know your among the BIG BOYS and your program flat isnt messing around.. You want to be the best its definately going to cost you one way or another..
Ya I take this as kinda fun... Why can't Mom have a little fun with the entire situation as well? I think she is pointing out what we already know most the time and that's, social media and just modern media is by all rights out of control and a joke... I thought it was funny actually.. she didnt mame the kid or embarrass the program at all... just clean fun!
I REAAALLY like this kid... its just soooo deep in that position allready.... I think he will start for us at some point in his career...when he does watch out!
Sorry...many will not agree.... but I just am not a huge fan of this guy.... perhaps I AM letting the past enter some of my decision making on the guy..and for that I will confess to some guilt... but I just am not convinced he is our future...I often question his presence... but again I realize I am one of a very few... so it must be a "personal" thing... I realize this
You know this reminds me of last years "preumptive" freshman claims made by an obviously excited KHalil Mckenzie of Tennessee... He went on and on about how the school was going to win a title within 3 years and were fixing to dethrone Bama in there long series of play.. Kid went on and on, on Twitter, then you realize hes making these claims from Concord California in his $5million home owned by his NFL great father Reggie McKenzie... The kid made ALOT of loud statements before even hitting the grass and getting any idea of what he was about to get into..I understand being excited... But immaturity is a huge part to play in all this.. Give it up to him for being stoked and excited...hopefully that can resonate into his actual play... *Freshman and pre-Freshman are to listen..not to be heard!! LOL
Not to mention if you have oppertunity to play at programs like Bama (among others) you would be a fool not to take it... Bama has 2nd teamers and 3rd teamers who hold a better shot at getting a pro look than most UK 1st teamers (no offense)... plus you know the possibilitys of being over worked and having serious injury at a school like UK as opposed to balanced look by Bama(well..not last year..lol) ... Everyone gets there cut at Bama and a coach isnt as likely to run you til your knees fall off... Unless you DH..lol.... A kid would be a fool to take on that kinda commitment... ANd we ALL know which direction crap roll's when things are going south.. So there you set with busted knee's, a 2-7 team, and all the blame... No way... your choice of school is a REAL investment in your future..
Gene Stallings was once asked a "similar" question after he retired...and he told the interviewer, "You give me oppertunity to sign every kid from Pensacola/Mobile/Baldwin County area to a scholarship and I would have you a National Title within 2 years"... One of the biggest reasons why University of South ALabama brought there football program back was the locals fought hard to get it, and mainly because they were tired of giving away all the talent to teams up North when they thought they could build an equally succesfull program within 10 years... And the progress made by USA just in its short time is astounding...I am not saying they will have a legacy like Bama or Auburn..but remain open minded and if I could look back in 50 years its not totally so crazy to fathom... Keep an eye on USA the next 10-15 years seriously
I wish him all the best..just wish he would have chose my home area JC... East Mississippi Lions... He would just be transfering from one REAL program to another... EMCC is by far the best football program in modern JUCO football.... Our school over here is better (overall , facilitys, coaches, everything) than probably every lower 60 Division 1 schools out there..and thats not talking crazy either... EMCC would have been a wise choice for him..
I would rather be under estimated than overly hyped.... Maturity will teach him this... He's actually in a good spot heading into Tuscaloosa....
Sounds like he was a better fit for Florida State..lol.... Its all just "incentive" young man... turn it into a reason to light them up this season...
THat Lashley kid is a BIG boy... more like BOBBY Lashley type stuff there..lol
Just a quick question.... I must have read it wrong on ESPN coverage of this kid , cause they have him as running a 5.11/ 40 yard's..... Surely thats wrong... anyone know what he does run a 40 in?
Exactly...there would be nobody more deserving you know!
Best of Luck down under Blake..and still thankful for what you brang to our team through the years! Very classy guy with loads of skills.. God Bless
I just think guys like Finebaum should stay in there lane... before popping off on matters.. Obviously his job is to find the truth... and report it..but far too many of these guys fall victim of finding the story anymore... Saban handled him right... I would suspect Finebaum is used to being made a fool of among his peers by guys actually "involved" in the sport...
