Jalen Hurd is a 20 year old young man. There exists a chance for him to make money from his ample athletic gifts, and I hope that he can make a go of it. I also pray that he can retire with a healthy body and a healthy brain. Yes, Jalen Hurd is to be commended for committing to Tennessee when the Vols were rebuilding. We of Vol Nation will always revere him for that. He has had a great career, has played hard, and has given the fans a lot to cheer about. I wish him nothing but the best, and hope he continues to give us fans something to cheer him for if he plays in the NFL. Just as he deserves the adulation for what I mentioned above, he, or whoever is responsible for his decision to dessert his team in the middle of the season, deserves the criticism for that bad decision. But the decision has been made and all involved will have to live with it. All of this will pass, and all involved will prosper, hopefully. If this is the worst thing he ever does, he'll probably have a pretty smooth life.

Hurd's head is big, but not because of brains.

The system that you claim is "nothing" had Hurd poised to become Tennessee's all time leading rusher. It is worth noting that not one of the players who was interviewed at the player presser today had any ill wishes for Hurd. And not one player stated that they had tried to convince Hurd to stay on the team.

So, we are to believe Hurd's uncle's claim that Butch Jones promised Jalen Hurd that he would alter his offense to suit Hurd's talents? Why would either want that. Hurd was footsteps away from becoming Tennessee's all time leading rusher later this season. It had worked great for him up until this season. This being the season where Kelly and Kamara showed that they were just as effective, or maybe a bit more effective, than Jalen. Then, in the next paragraph of Hurd's uncle's post, Hurd's uncle claims Hurd is going to switch from RB to WR or TE. Tell me, why on Earth would a Butch Jones change his offense to suit a Jalen Hurd, a RB who wishes to no longer play RB?

It is true that Hurd was unavailable to play at Texas A&M because of a concussion. What Smotherman doesn't say is that Hurd was not at the game because the team had voted to not let him make the trip with them.

Well, considering the fact that he, along with the rest of his also-ran teammates, had the luxury of watching every single play of all three CFP games from the comfy confines of their easy chairs, Nick Vannett is entitled to his opinion. I would remind him that OSU beating 'Bama in '14 actually has nothing to do with '15. But, if we are revisiting the past, as is Nick, then we should remember that Ohio State is nothing to brag about in terms of facing SEC teams through the years. Over the last 30 years, OSU versus SEC teams: 3 wins, 10 losses, 1 tie. Sucks for you, OSU.
