It’s simply time. Best for all parties involved.
Lane has been amazing at Ole Miss. I think his defense will improve a little bit each season given he stays. I loved the comparison to James Franklin. Similar struggles against the big boys, but polar opposites how they approach those games. Franklin has a great defense and he leans way too heavily on it against Michigan and Ohio St. he goes almost turtle pace conservative on offense. Keep it close and hope to pull out a win. Lane is the exact opposite. He knows his defense struggles mightily at times. That I think is the reason he takes so many risks with 4th downs on offense. I think he did a much better job of that this year. The Georgia game this year however it was clear early that the Bulldogs would score pretty much at will so he had to press. Penn St is one of the programs I’ve always followed and while I’m frustrated with not beating the big boys it begs the question. Who would you get that is better. I’ve been following Ole Miss closely since the Kiffin hire because I was wanting him for Arkansas instead. I look at those two, like I did Bobby Petrino when he was the head Hog. Bobby did okay against LSU and was seemingly slowly closing the gap with Bama. What he didn’t do was ever lose games he was favored to win. Same with Kiffin and Franklin. They pretty much always beat the teams they are supposed to. Now they just have to get over that last hurdle. Ole Miss defensive recruiting and portal additions this year tell me that might not be far off.
I have watched a lot of Petrino games as you can imagine. When the Aggies took over first down inside their own 1 yard line my immediate thought was we are about to find out at the very least whether or not Dumbo was influencing play calls. A Petrino called series would have been a streak sideline pattern on either first or second down. NEVER two consecutive up the gut runs. I can hear the conversation now. Jimbo: Bobby our defense is playing well let’s see is we can pop one on an up the gut run: Petrino: okay dumbo if that’s what you wanna do rolling his eyes. Petrino: thought going through his mind. What a moron Dumbo Fishbag is.
Jalen Milroe is the worst QB I’ve ever seen at a good d-1 program ever when it comes to recognizing when and where to throw the ball. On the rare occasion he gets that part right it’s more often than not a catchable ball he throws. I said in many places that every game he starts for the Tide is their opponents best chance to beat them in the past 15 years. You switch the jersey’s of Milroe and Ewers before that game and the Tide win by three scores. I say that and I can’t stand either team.
Tough to blame a RB and say he needs to do better when the defense knows there is virtually no threat through the air.
Didn’t even read the article because I don’t give a rip about anything coach prime says.
I’m not sure he really shouldn’t be the starter now. He scares me much more than Daniels and that’s just me being honest.
Seinfeld was the show about nothing. This is an article about nothing. Just tells you supposedly when the something’s will be.
I have somewhat wondered the same. I don’t see him starting over Dart. I could see Kiffin discussing this with him as looking at the situation as a possible springboard into coaching if that interests him.
Perhaps I’m just slow witted, but did he just say incoming transfer Jaxson Dart? Can this guy possibly not know that Dart transferred the year before and played at Ole Miss last season? What a water head.
I hope Lane reaches out to Walker White again. I think he would be phenomenal in that offense. There is no ink to paper at Auburn yet so never know.
That’s a good problem to have kinda though. I don’t understand Sanders going there. He’s an experienced backup if something happens to Dart, but I can’t imagine him wanting to sit his final season. No way he should start. I mean wasn’t Dart only like 18 years old last year. I like what I see out of him. If he improves his decision making on some passes he will be lethal.
Best wishes to the young man, but I honestly didn’t think he would ever see the field as QB for Ole Miss. I mean I think he literally weighs like 160 pounds. That makes Bryce Young look huge, and not many have Young’s ability at any size. I think him being committed actually hurt their chances with Walker White who chose Auburn. Then when they got the Simmons kid who reclassified to 2023 it became very clear to Williams. My guess is this is the best outcome for all parties involved.
Moronic pick that early. Thankfully I’m not a Colts fan.
I am as Anti Aggie as anyone. Because of that I hope Fisher meddles in the play calling and design and it drives Petrino insane. If Dumbo truly checks his ego at the door and gets out of Petrino’s way that offense could be scary good by the end of the season.
If I’m being 100% honest whether he goes or stays I bet secretly he will be thrilled when he no longer has to try and call plays for KJ.
I can’t imagine Petrino taking the job if offered unless he has assurances that Dumbo won’t meddle with the play calling.
If like you said he’s a good guy but bad QB that’s actually the opposite of Jeff George. George had all world arm talent and could make every throw. His problem was between the ears.
Malik Willis was not a first round pick. He went in the 3rd round and should not have been drafted at all. He’s a horrible NFL QB. Look at his stats in games he started this season. To your point however. He was drafted because of what Freeze did with him. He was originally at Auburn and couldn’t sniff the field there. Bottom line is he is not good.
Recruiting is a bit tougher at Notre Dame. You can’t just be a four or five star to go there. The academic entrance requirements are closer to Vandy’s than everyone else in the SEC. Those restraints are gone at LSU. Time will tell.
I didn’t think Kiffin would leave for many reasons. I’m not an Ole Miss fan, but I do really like Kiffin. I think he’s building something at Ole Miss. I had a 2K bet on them to win over 7.5 games this season. They took care of the games they were truly supposed to win. The Arkansas loss was ugly, but the Razorbacks caught them at the perfect time. On the heels of the Bama loss where they were in it until the end. Lane is three or four players away from having a truly great team.
I hope that Nitwit ends up coaching your Noles. Would hate to have to listen to his blabbering weekly in the SEC
How is it possible there will be an undefeated Ducks team since they lost week one? Is there another team of Ducks out there that I’m unaware of that happens to be undefeated?
Agreed. Only an Aggie could pretend to like Dumbo Fishbag
Went back and looked. This guy was 0-2 on his best bets last week. Will stick with my own plays.
Appreciate the update. Need to start strong agains Troy. Score early and often and keep foot on the gas.
I know I’m ready to know who will be the starting QB. Im personally hoping it’s Dart just because I feel like he has an incredibly high ceiling. All the physical tools are there. Of course I have no clue who has been more accurate or better with their reads. I have a fairly sizable chunk of coin on Ole Miss over 7.5 wins. So I say win the first 8 ?
Well clearly being a former Peloton instructor and basketball player at a tiny college in Connecticut qualifies her to be on game day. Just put her in a swimsuit and let her stand there on camera. I love hearing females commentating on women’s sports. I don’t much care to hear or see them commentating on men’s ( even more so football). They sit their rolling out the script they wrote the night before the show.
All I know is I put 2K on the over 7.5 game win total for Ole Miss. that said. Lane start whichever guy gets you at least 8 wins this season.
