Bo Nix beat Oregon on the road in his first ever college football game. The same year he completed the regular season with a win over Alabama. Beside these two points, his careers at Auburn has been less than hoped for. As an AU fan my hopes are more so in the program's future with Bryan Harsin than in this 2021 campaign. The ceiling doesn't strike me as being particularly high right now. Our defense doesn't scare anyone, but then again neither does Bama's.
Interesting read. I think a big factor in this game, and in Bo's development overall, will be the affect our new coaching staff has on him and the offensive line. Some OC's and head coaches are labelled "quarterback whisperers" for their ability to get the most out of their guy. (See Pat Shurmur/Case Keenum/Minnesota Vikings 2017.) I wonder that Harsin doesn't have a little of the magic himself. His improvements to the o-line may prove to be of more value to the team than whatever he's able to conjure out of Nix. Let's face it, Auburn fans: pass protection has been our Achilles heel for some time. Even mediocre quarterbacks can generate success if given time in a clean pocket. Should be a great game.
