Actually Florida is 260-91 with a 14-11 bowl record since 1990, and Nebraska is 258-95 with a 12-14 record. In that 27 year span, both schools have had 5 coaches. And yet, 2/5 coaches won titles at Florida. Only 1/5 won titles at Nebraska. And the last was 20 years ago. So maybe go husk some corn instead of bloviating about success and coaching stability.
Jarrad Davis has been injured to hell all season. He's a projected first round pick and second at the latest. And he said he's been busting his ass to get back out there for the freaking Outback bowl against IOWA. Because he's passionate about the game and about his team. Don't paint such broad strokes as "Thinking NFL players actually consider this is just stilly."
Don't count out Del Rio. All early reports said he was throwing the best deep ball in spring and early in fall before the NCAA said they wouldn't clear him for this season. I think he's talented enough to at least keep us solid until Grier's return. The only way I see Franks getting the job is if he's head and shoulders better from the outset (And he may very well be that, we just have to see)
Oh, also, Fisher Mann you said Florida has "stumbled" in our conference wins? Well we beat Ole Miss by 28, Georgia by 24, Mizzou by 18, and SC by 10. That's 4 of 8 games by two scores.
First I'd like to respond to the two fans previously commenting on here: Y'all mad? Hahaha. Rebel_LandSharks: first off, what the hell is a land shark? Is that the "defense" that our "Drugged up QB" carved up? Or the offense that got dominated by our defense all night? And Fisher Mann: Dude... Your team has lost ELEVEN STRAIGHT to Florida and we're sorry? Maybe root for a team that can defend a fourth down play before you try to talk smack. And finally to SDS: first off, and this is CONSTANTLY brought up here, HIRE SOME EDITORS TO PROOF READ!!! The score of the FAU game was 20-14 not 23-17. And second, what kind of article is this? Your writer is so dismissive of the fact that is is a 10-1 team AND a division champion. Those are facts. This article isn't analysis as much as interjecting personal opinion and trying to neglect actual facts. Be better.
How could you include Jarrad Davis under honorable mentions but not include Antonio Morrison at all, since he won SEC DPOTW?
Not even a single mention of Florida's offensive line coach Mike Summers? The man has performed absolute miracles two seasons in a row. Last season he took a line that nobody expected much from, and turned out a pretty solid line, with 4 of the 5 starters being drafted, and the other being signed. This season he took a rotation wrought with Freshman and inexperienced players and expected to be a disaster, and turned them into a line that, while not elite, has performed well above expectations and hasn't been a crippling death blow. The man is damn good at his job.
It seems interesting that he's being bashed for not making the throw. At face value there's an open receiver in the back of the end zone. But, when you think more in depth, does it not make just as much sense for him to run it in, when he's capable of doing so? He's not the best passer, so why force a throw on the run, when he can easily carry it? If this was on the 40 it would be a different story, but from that distance it's not really fair to bash him for just tucking and going for the pylon. Just my opinion, at least.
I keep seeing this and it's driving my crazy so I have to say something: McGriff is an ATH! Sure he played RB in HS, but he signed to mainly play LB at Florida. The two freshman backs who could play are Scarlett, as mentioned, and Jordan Cronkrite. NOT Scarlett and McGriff. Just saying, because I keep seeing his name listed in articles about Florida RBs and have yet to see JC.
Randy Shannon? Last I checked he definitely was Miami's head coach, and was also definitely Florida's LB coach/Co DC. Lol
Defense should've been Florida? 125 yards allowed, two FR, 1 INT for a TD, 3 sacks, 0 pts allowed. That's 21 points by my calculation.
