You have now established that you STILL can't read. I did not say that UCF is this year's national champion. My argument is very much a middle of the road argument that understands both sides. My main points are that UCF deserves much more respect than we got all year and that we can compete against any team in the nation.
Great analysis. I'm very impressed with your logical argument and reading skills especially since I didn't say that UCF should be ranked top 4 before the bowl game. Great win against Notre Dame for your bowl game in Orlando by the way. Oh wait...
Yes, I said that UCF was not top 4 before beating Auburn. After beating Auburn, they should be top 4. Again, I understand that there is not a single perfect playoff system with so many teams playing so few games. What I have a problem with us being ranked 12 and having so many people say that we stand no chance against the likes of Clemson, Oklahoma, Georgia, and Alabama. If my memory serves me right we were 9.5 point underdogs against Auburn with people like Finebaum saying that we will get dusted and that Auburn is a much higher caliber team. When watching the game it was very clear that our constant pass rushing, numerous tackles for a loss, completed passes in double coverage, and exceptional pocket presence were all the proof needed that we are every bit as good as an Auburn team.
UGA93's statement sounds more like a dig than a compliment to me because there is a lot bigger storyline than just being a top 10 team at the end of the year. UCF was ranked top 10 in 2013, but this season has significantly more to make it memorable than a number on a ranking system.
Again with the distractions lol. Even this point is not true. Lots of people including me remember the undefeated seasons Boise State had in 2004 and especially 2009. It does seem to be a common theme though that SEC fans are so narcissistic that they don't remember or acknowledge the accomplishments of teams from any other conference.
Haha, so now you are going to throw out a red herring instead of giving a rebuttal to ANY of the points I made. You are funny LegendDD2!
Nice try, go back and listen to the peach bowl press conference where Scott says if he is a recruit that he wants to go to UCF even with the HC job at Nebraska. He is also the only stand up coach to work double duty for two teams because he DOES believe in our team and players. Scott left to go to his home town and because it was the right personal decision, not because he doesn't believe in UCF.
Sounds to me like this is a statement to dismiss valid arguments since you don't have anything valid to counter with.
I am hearing a lot of talk on both sides that I don't completely agree with regarding UCF this year. You can talk all day about how Auburn wasn't trying and how anyone can win in a vacuum, but I refuse to believe it. Neither team played their best for the whole thing, but UCF outplayed Auburn and any excuses are just that so give credit where credit is due. We were ranked WAY lower than we deserved by the committee, but I also don't think we were top 4 before this game. Claiming the national championship is our polarized protest to their complete lack of respect for our accomplishments. If you want to argue to put the 4 best teams in the playoff no matter what the record, then why even have a playoff at all? You might as well just name the champion at the end of the regular season instead of letting things play out on the field. Opinion will always play a role when you have so many teams playing so few games to prove themselves, but one thing I know is that UCF beat every team we played this year and had TONS of distractions to overcome. We can compete against any college team in the nation and it is just a bummer that we don't get to see that happen this year in the playoffs. UCF distractions this year: - We lost games due to a hurricane and we had to adapt. - We played 11 weeks straight and won them all! - We had the media relentlessly buzzing mid-year about how we are going to lose our coach. - Our head coach had his first baby between games 9 and 10 of the season. - We actually did lose our entire coaching staff at the end of the year so they were working two jobs for a full month and we STILL won our bowl game! Here are a few things to keep in mind regarding UCF's 2017-2018 schedule: 1. Navy went into the UCF game with a 17 game home win streak that we broke and had one loss (to Memphis) on the year leading to that game. The wheels fell off from that point, but it was still a valid win 2. Memphis only lost to UCF through the entire regular season and lost by 1 point in the bowl game against Iowa State (by the way, the SEC lost 5 of their bowl games) while knocking off #25 UCLA early in the season. 3.USF was also severely underrated this year and had 1 loss going into the last game of the season against UCF and won their bowl game against Texas Tech to finish the season 10-2. I have no clue how they are not ranked when 8-4 NC State and 8-4 Mississippi State are ranked. 4.Scheduling Power 5 (should be Power 6) out of conference games are contracted years in advance so telling us to schedule harder opponents is an exercise in futility. I would also like to point out that teams like Alabama, Clemson, etc. have no desire to schedule us because they perceive nothing to gain and everything to lose against a very good team that doesn't get enough respect on the national scale. Here are a couple other things to consider about UCF: 1. UCF won the AAC conference title in 3 of the past 5 years. Our 0-12 year was an anomaly and having a rebuilding season of 6-7 with a brand new coach and a completely different play style to learn makes perfect sense. 2. The last time we played Alabama we beat them; the last time we played Georgia we beat them; the last time we played Auburn we beat them. My pre-bowl top 10 rankings: 1.Oklahoma 2.Georgia 3.Clemson 4.Alabama 5.Ohio State 6.UCF 7.Wisconsin 8.USC 9.Auburn 10.Penn State
