I don’t think Kiper is the greatest draft analyst, but I also don’t think he has a particular axe to grind against either UT or Hooker. His points are all the conventional knocks on Hooker from an NFL perspective. The NFL has a prototype it’s looking for, and anyone who doesn’t slot exactly into that is going to go lower in the draft, regardless of talent or record. Late first round would be a spectacular result for Hooker, but I think second or third is more likely.
Florida, welcome to Knoxville circa 2009. See you in a decade or so when you become relevant again. In the meantime, the rest of the country will enjoy drinking your salty, salty tears.
I think I speak for all Tennessee fans when I say, “Keep your stupid trophy.”
Feels like we lost a football game to very good team, but we’re still having an excellent season. Feels like we can still love our team, have faith in our coach, and give credit to our opponents. That’s something y’all classless, entitled crybabies should try occasionally when you lose—which, by the way, is something you’d better get used to as the SEC continues to get stronger.
Last year I wouldn’t have given us a chance. Your defense was just too good. I’d like to think we could win a shootout, but I think Kirby’s D is going to be better able to shorten the game. All that said, we can’t afford to look past Kentucky. We’re just remembering how to win again.
Typical Bama. Lose an epic game to a good team. Blame the refs. Talk **** about historical records. Be insulting. This…this right here…is why people hate you. It’s not jealousy that you’re good; it’s that you have no class.
Truth, O Oracle. ND’s wet dream is to get offers from the SEC and the Big 10 so they can turn the SEC down in favor of the Big 10, where they know they have 1-2 tough games a year, and not 3 per month.
If it’s basketball you want, then it’s Dook and/or UNC. I’m frankly for the former, plus Clemson. Both come into the East, and you move Vandy to the West, giving both divisions walkovers in football and tough opponents on the hardwood. Plus, Duke raises the average SAT/GPA of the league instantly.
You know what’s pointless? Keeping your head in the sand and acting like we’re still a good program. Kids we’re trying to recruit don’t even remember the last time we had back-to-back winning conference records (2006-07, under Fulmer), and they weren’t even alive the last time we won the SEC (1998, when we also won a national title). We’re not going to catch up to the rest of the league by having a positive attitude. It’s going to require a commitment to excellence throughout the administration that I really don’t see. So I guess we’ll have to spend two years saying nice things about Heupel, a year saying it’s time for him to deliver, a year grumbling that it’s time for him to go, and then start the process over with someone new. Convince me I’m wrong, somebody. I beg you.
We’re 3-31 against Florida, Georgia, and Alabama since 2010. The program is such a joke that announcers are patronizing us as if we were Vandy or South Carolina. They actually called us “feisty” last night. I understand trying to find a silver lining, but let’s evaluate the game honestly. We had two good offensive plays, both I. The first quarter. One big defensive play before the half. No offense after halftime. Plenty of bonehead penalties. Dropped passes on crucial downs. No depth. A center who can barely stand up. Two apparently fragile retread QBs who can’t be the program’s future and aren’t doing its present much good, either. We lost by 24 to a competitive SEC team. We’re now on our fourth straight coach who has followed the same pattern. This isn’t a Heupel problem; it’s an institutional one. We suck right now, and the attitude that we can close the gap by cleaning up execution and getting a couple more blue chip recruits is unrealistic. If we want the Vols to compete in the SEC as it exists now, it’s going to take rebuilding the Athletic Department from the ground up.
I wondered when I'd finally run across an article in which Geno dared open his mouth about Coach Summit. Though she was far too classy ever to say it, Coach hated Auriemma's guts and was convinced he was a cheat. Her coffin might just explode if Tyler allows the smarmy S.O.B. to attend the funeral.
