Agree with John on all his points about the Hurd situation at Tennessee. A team is about more than one guy, and there is no excuse for walking out on your team mid season because you are not being featured the way you feel you should be. The idea that these coaches have a responsibility to showcase players for the NFL is laughable. They are their to win, end of discussion. Hurd showed he is a quitter and rather than fight through adversity alongside his teammates he would rather run away. Not exactly a guy I would want to play alongside
Jerry Palm consistently butchers his bowl predictions and this list is just as insane. He has Penn State in the top 10 based on one win against an Ohio State team that looks less and less impressive with each passing week. In sum Palm is a hack
This list right here shows the flaws in college football writers and award voters. How in the world is a guy that ranks 7th in the conference in rushing a semifinalost for a national player of the year award? Everyone knows he is talented but he has missed time with injuries and as a result his numbers are not POY worthy. He potentially might not even be on the first team all-SEC. Once again awards are not given to the most deserving, your name matters as well
I agree! I am a huge Auburn fan, and I do think if the two teams played today Auburn would win, but fact is they played earlier in the season and A&M won handily. You cannot discredit that win because of Auburn's improvement. What happens on the field matters more than the eye test. If A&M were to lose to Ole Miss or LSU then a discussion of Auburn being ranked ahead of them would be more reasonable. As of now A&M has earned the number 2 spot behind Bama
Zach Cubningham and Carl Lawson should both be on that list, big whiff on those 2
Not a shock and probably on par with where it should be at this point. After Auburn plays Ole Miss and Bama plays LSU, oddsmakers will have a better idea of how these 2 stack up against each other. The line is certain to move between now and kickoff, question is in what direction
This is wrong as well, watch the replay, as he goes in to make the hit his head lowers and he hits the guy in the facemask with the crown of his helmet. Biased or not this was clear as day to see on the replay, go rewatch the play
Good explanation Bo, same thing I have been arguing since the hit. The player does not have to be defenseless, if you lead with the crown if the helmet it is targeting, end of discussion. Replays showed he clearly did and on top of that made forceable contact to the head/neck area of the ball carrier. The refs and replay booth whiffed on this one
Ole Miss beat Georgia by more than 4 TDs and the last time we saw Georgia they were losing to Vandy.....in what universe could you possibly have a rational argument for ranking the Rebs behind Georgia. Goodness SDS your power rankings are comically bad every single week
Would you still think that had he said he sees Auburn getting to Allen 3 or more times and causing multiple turnovers leading to a double digit win for Auburn? Probably not
Arkansas may win comfortably, they or a very underrated team but the numbers say this game will be very tight. Auburn wants to run the ball, Arkansas is a very bad run D, Arky wants to throw the ball and Auburn has a very good pass D. Look at the line of scrimmage in this game and Auburn has the edge on both sides, that is where games are won. Again Arky may win by two TDs, they are certainly capable, but Auburn is very capable of covering the spread, should be a great game nontheless.
Someone explain to me the sudden belief in LSU after beating 2 very below average opponents and the disregard for Auburn? You mention Auburn's remaining schedule as a reason to why they could finish 1-4 yet LSU still has ole Miss, Arky, Bama and A&M left....after a loss to Auburn and with that remaining schedule where do you see LSU finding enough wins to actually finish with a better record than Auburn? I forgot they also play Florida, not to knock LSU but it will be a minor moracle woth that conference slate left if they finish 4-4. Once again no logic or thought goes into this prediction, just throw some crap at a wall and hope it sticks
I have a lot of respect for Tebow as a football player and as a person, however I don't necessarily agree with him being signed first of all and now being placed in a fall league designed for MLB's very best prospects. I played small college baseball where usually we had 1-2 guys a year who were good enough to get a shot. Some did and some did not. But I have watched Tebow's tryout and the highlights of his play from Arizona and the truth is he has no business being there over some of my former teammates nor guys that I played against. I don't blame Tebow for trying since the Mets were willing to sign him but it is a publicity stunt. There are much younger more talented players sitting at hone right now while Tebow is playing in the most prestigious fall league out there and he is there simply because of his name.
Your rationale is ridiculous but I will concede and look at it from your point of view. What do we know about the opponents that both Auburn and LSU played last weekend....they are both below average. What do we know happened the week before when both teams squared off head to head....Auburn won. Explain to me, rationally, how LSU deserves to be ranked 7 spots ahead of a team they lost to based on a win against a below average opponent, much less the 2 teams that are both unbeaten ranked behind them?
I guess head-to-head means absolutely nothing. LSU looked great against a below average Missouri team. But fact is they LOST to Auburn the weeke before, own the same record as Auburn and yet are 7 spots aheaf of them? Where is the logic here?
So because LSU "almost" won, and because if the game was 60 minutes and 1 second that negates the fact they lost to Auburn and thus common sense tells us that they are one spot better than the team they just lost to even with an identical record...just trying to make sure I comprehend this convoluted line of logic
