With any luck, we won't be exposed to this laughable clown show past 2024.
You lost all credibility with this statement: "For the record, if Muschamp were able to continue on as head coach he would’ve eventually righted the ship and restored this historic program back to its rightful place among the elite." Based upon what? Florida had one of the worst offenses in the country for the entire four years that Muschamp was here. If you listened to him talk, it was obvious that he saw offense as little more than a way to rest his defense, and he was not concerned in the least about what it produced. Almost any historic low that was possible in the program, Muschamp reached it. Our first loss to an FCS team. Three straight losses to Georgia for the first time since the late 1980s. Our first losing season since 1979. Our first loss to Vanderbilt since 1982, and the first at home since 1945. Consecutive homecoming losses for the first time since the 1940s. A school record for total offense allowed to an opponent. Losing three games to teams with less than 120 yards of total offense. Recruits decommitting left and right. Offensive skill players refusing to visit. Brawls in practice. A locker room completely out of control, and Muschamp walks out and tells his assistants, "You handle it." Threatening to fight his own fans. Does this sound like a man on the brink of a magical run? Surely you're smarter than that. All you need to know about Muschamp: As soon as the majority of the players on the roster were his and Dan Quinn left for the Seattle Seahawks, the program went off the cliff. His skills as a defensive coordinator are vastly overrated, IMO. One reason the Gators' defensive stats were as good as they were is that as horrible as Florida's offense was, teams knew that they didn't have to do much to beat us because we weren't going to score points. I could not be happier that Muschamp is gone.
LSU had better think long and hard before doing this. When Zook was Florida's defensive coordinator, our defense got statistically worse each season and we had fewer all-SEC selections on defense. Two years after Spurrier demoted him, we won our first national title (you may have heard of the guy who replaced him - Bobby Stoops). Everyone already knows his head coaching history, which doesn't seem relevant here. His recruiting was overrated because he never recruited for need, and a lot of his recruits washed out. Not that he didn't bring in talented players, he sometimes didn't bring in the right ones, and he had no idea what to do with them once they arrived.
Don't sweat it, Mizzou. My Gators are within striking distance. Must be that legendary Muschamp discipline. Can't coach, 4-8 season, losing to mediocre FCS teams, brawls in practice, players getting arrested all over the place, yet our AD likes the direction the program is going in. With any luck, both of them will be unemployed at the end of the season.
