Remember, these are the same clueless people that gave Woodson the Heisman over Peyton Manning...
Yeah that makes sense. Punish Athletes and coaches who were not apart of the scandal and impermissible benefits. The NCAA actually got it right, fining the University amounts that range into the profit it would have made. Dont punish kids who did no wrong--do punish the University that didnt control its program. For a rare change, NCAA got this one right
The Vols have been better and more consistent at Hoops than at football the past decade. And how did the cats fare against the Vols last year? The reigning SEC hoops champ isn't wearing blue... Tenn football isn't on the level of GA or Bama. Need several years of consistent high level play to get there. But they are well above the level of Kentucky in terms of football.
It is possible to play poorly and still get robbed! Tennessee did get absolutely hosed. Sorry thats NOT "revisionist history" as SDS proclaimed in their email. However, just as it is undeniable that the ridiculous miss of Pass Int and that insane ruling of fwd progress was stopped were awful calls that likely cost Tennessee the game, We cannot ignore that Tennessee ignored the 2nd quarter and that Tennessee employed a "wet paper bag" defensive scheme for most of the game. If Tennessee played any sort of defense at all, they win the game and it doesnt come down to 1 or 2 bad calls from the Zebras. So it sucks, but time to move on and start preparing for fall 2022.
It's sad but I was thinking EXACTLY the same thing. Different Sport, Same results
Things are bad at Tennessee, but really, Tulsa? Guess thats how bad it is in Knoxville. Its bad enough players are leaving in droves to go to Alabama and Oklahoma, but now programs like Tulsa are raiding whats left in the stripped cupboards? Yikes
Classic Tennessee performance. Different sport, same result. Playing lowest ranked remaining team, go out and lay an utter egg. In the process make it almost impossible to win the CWS. Still possible, but the numbers are stacked against them.
If an SEC team were to have done this--and gotten caught, it would have been Tennessee (especially under the previous regime). Maybe then the Happy Meal Boxes with $$$ wouldnt have been the big story
Where do you go from here? A loss like that is normally a firable offense, but Tennessee cant continue to fire its coaches or no one will ever work there. As a Pirates fan in Pittsburgh, I have to suffer through 2 seasons of complete ineptitude every year. Just hope the rest of the SEC keeps carrying the conference banner, because at this point, im not sure what I'll see first: A return to prominence for Tennessee or the Pittsburgh Pirates winning a playoff series. Right now, my $ is on NEITHER.
