Matt Hayes, you could not have said it better. All of this fan base's frustrations are summed up in Parts 1 and 2 here. Bravo.
What he said was "...we didn’t think it was fair for Jarrett to have to go in the game and do an underneath center snap when he didn’t have time to practice the underneath center snap." Didn't have time to PRACTICE the underneath snap? Get on twitter right now and I'll bet you'll find a half dozen pictures of JG taking snaps under center at practices. You can also watch the Indiana State film and see him take at least one in that game. Even if Butch were telling the truth, that is a sorry explanation. Even worse, he's lying. Does he get fired for this presser? Highly doubtful. He should be fired for blowing a number of winnable games? Yes.
John Kelly has a "questionable offensive line"? You guys wrote an article 2 weeks ago about all the quality depth that Tennessee has on the OL....Get outta here.
Reasons many (not all) Vols fans dislike Butch: 1. Butch needs to be accountable for losses. A simple "That game's on me" would go a LONG way for repairing his reputation with many fans. Not saying "we needed more consistency" or *insert coaching cliche here*. 2. The silly catch phrases make my eyes roll, but in the grand scheme of things, they're not a big deal. But when you're losing clutch games, it's easy for people to use that as ammunition against you. It's frustrating. 3. Yes, he can recruit. So could 30 other coaches out there if they had UT's resources and brand name. 4. If he can't win the East in 2016 when UGA and UF are relatively down and we've got a loaded roster, will he ever win the East? It's a fair question.
I don't disagree with saying the current overtime rules are flawed. They kind of are. But how about just changing the overtime rules? Makes A LOT more sense, and probably makes for better article-writing material. I'm not digging this at all.
At least they'll look good, while going 5-7.
This is just a really bad tweet. Bad spelling, bad tone, bad reference.....just bad.
As much as we sometimes think stars and rankings don't matter, they ultimately do. Players are ranked where they are for a reason. And it's no coincidence that the teams who consistently finish well in recruiting are doing well in the season (and postseason). Sure, there are some not-so-highly rated guys that end up being hidden gems, but you can't count get a class full of those and expect to compete for a playoff slot. Not saying it can't be done, but your odds are definitely not as good as the team that's regularly landing the highly rated guys.
"There are several key uncommitted targets remaining for Bankins during this recruiting cycle including Micah Abernathy..."
Ummmm....Micah Abernathy is a verbal to Tennessee. And those other guys are committed to FSU and Auburn...
