The last Cowboy: Texas A&M’s R.C. Slocum and the long trip home
Great piece about a great coach and an even better person. RC wasn't getting the right results at the end, but he'd been begging for facilities upgrades for years. A&M leadership was stuck in an old way of thinking and made the upgrades too late in the game for RC to survive. Had they stuck with RC, there's no doubt in my mind A&M's football fortune and stature over the last 15 years would have been much better.
