Anyone else expecting him to join Saban's staff as an analyst in the next year to recover his reputation?
I think this was a move either made locally out of due concern about their students of by LSU, not Alabama. In this move, they made Alabama look brash and a threat to coaches in Lousiana, soiling their chances with Lousiana recruits. Seriously think LSU more likely behind this than Alabama.
Harris’ LSU career was primarily defined by an inability to live up to expectations. As a result, he has just announced he's leaving LSU in a mutual parting of the ways. Who saw this first? Saban. Also, Saban requires recruits, and especially recruits at QB, to attend camp before they have a commitable offer. This is very well understood. The truth I suspect is that Harris knew this, Saban clearly knew this, and the coach was not as good or as well informed as he thought he was. Moreover, didn't New Orleans area coaches just ban Coach O from LSU from their campuses? HS coaches need to do what is best for the kid, not themselves and their own egos, and this one is clearly not. And FWIW, Bama will be just fine with the QBs they have on campus. One was the SEC offensive player of the year, and the next is the next Marcus Mariota.

I wonder what threats they're making against students in the band to keep them in line.
Kiffin took a $400k plus paycut to become a head coach again and did so in a place he hates (Peoke, FL), a place so poor people can't afford shirts or shoes. Not a single recruit followed. I suspect not a single coach will follow either. Frankly, he can't afford them.
Message from Lane Kiffin to Clay Helton: enjoy the bus ride home.
@daplafoll I firmly expect Alabama to continue to use all three QBs as we did last night: (1) unlike other schools we have them, (2) Saban understands the importance of playing time to recruits, Tua Tagvailoa for instance, and loves the idea of getting a recruiting edge (3) Saban sees development as part of the process and with playing time comes development (4) he can use getting the start as motivation in QB development (5) our players, in particular our receivers, are good enough that it doesn't matter whose under center (6) it makes the team more resilient not having to rely on a single point of failure (7) it will make Alabama that much harder to prepare and defend against (8) it'll befuddle the media (9) it rewards the time spent doing the right things (10) it puts the stamp on Alabama that it's a unique level among football programs that they could do this.
Because that worked so well when Georgia called one against Alabama.
Last time it happened, Harvey Updyke apparently killed Auburn's trees. You might know them better as the oak trees that used to stand at Toomer's Corner. That was their equivalent to A&M's bonfire. And he'd spent his career as a Texas state trooper. I think he can find College Station. Still think no one cares?
Carter is not going to Alabama. He does not have the relationship with Saban. He thinks he's too stodgy. Watch the interviews.
