Strangely enough, it is actually Kemper County, which is 2 counties south of Oktibbeha. Go figure.
I must disagree with a few of the assessments. State is #1 in the SEC in yards per game on offense and is very balanced between rushing and passing (+18 YPG passing over rushing). That starts up front and the line is and has been healthy. How can 3 linebackers for OM with 76 total tackles between them be equal to 2 for MSU with 115 tackles together? Also the defensive line for MSU obviously occupies the opposing offensive lines allowing for the linebackers to clean up. The sacks and yards lost by sacks for MSU is 2nd in the SEC as you mentioned, and it is important to overall defensive success. SDS also shows weekly that MSU is far and away the best red zone defense in the SEC and that starts with the front seven. They can't beat you if they can't score! The only legitimate advantages that OM has are their secondary and the home field. Hail State!
The problem for Ole Miss is that De'Runnya is not the only receiver threat. Eleven different receivers caught passes last Saturday with De'Runnya on the bench resting up. Senquez can only cover one at a time.
Well played Coozie. I've heard it said that if you're not making mistakes, you aren't doing anything to speak of.
I agree that Hugh is a good coach and good man as well. I'd pick him over Pinkel for sure. It's really somewhat silly to try to rank these SEC West coaches anyway. The quality of coaching top to bottom is so much better than any other conference grouping out there that ranking them is nothing more than, "What did you do last game Coach?"
Amari Cooper has been shut down by a lower tier defense (Arkansas 2 catches, 22 yards). You don't think Geoff Collins knows how to watch film?
I tend to agree. I would be shocked however, if we don't take a page out of Arkansas and TSUN's defensive playbook and double Cooper to take him out of the mix as they did. The teams that didn't got soundly whipped.
