He should have gone on and politely confronted Booger if anything was said that Garrett felt was incorrect, biased, or unfair. But he didn't. Oh well. Has nothing to do with his play or his attitude. Next time, he will probably go face a 'hostile' reporter and stand his ground. Personally, it seems like Booger, Myles, and the media have overreacted to this situation. It's a non-issue. Move on.
Yeah... not terribly impressed. I win is a win, yes. But I still don't feel like we know who or what this team is yet. I feel like Arizona State was highly over rated so don't think that win holds as much weight as we previously thought, and the past two weeks kind of back that up with A&M's play. One possibility is that we are falling into that trap of playing at the same level as our opponent, which is never a good thing. Next week the stakes get higher and the true character of the Ags will be revealed. I feel like this is a super talented squad kind of going through the motions... with the exception of a select few.
1. Who cares. 2. Yes. The problem is that at the end of the season OSU will be in great shape as they will be fresh, healthy, and ready to roll into the playoffs. The SEC champ will be beat all to hell from running the gauntlet through the SEC (west). 3. Arguably so. I'd take the Florida teams though. They had a toughness and a grit that I love. 4. Yes 5. Don't be silly 6. Possibly but doubtful. Not trying to be biased, but a younger, resilient team stands a better chance. (Gig 'em) ;) 7. OMG, we're so incredible! Lolololol 8. How? By being so incredible! Lolololol! 9. I've known it for years. I talk about the Aggies all the time. Whoop! 10. Sure we can. But so can the 6 other teams in the west. If I was a betting man, here's my prediction: Bama, Auburn/A&M, LSU, Ark, Miss, MS St. 11. Protect the ball, lead his team. Pretty simple. 12. Protect the ball, move efficiently. It wont take much to bump their confidence back up. 13. Mullen more to gain. 14. Spurrier more to lose. Simple expectations. 15. No. Peak pride will be when A&M beats OSU in the playoffs. ;) 16. He'll stand taller. 17. Depends on the game. Close hard fought loss, things stay the same. Gets blown out, his ass will get hot. 18. We'll see! I think so. 19. Looks to be those pesky Buckeyes this year. But Stoops is certainly right there. 20. They should. 21. Waaaaay too early to tell. 22. What? 23. No. 24. No. 25. This is silly. 26. Sure. 27. Not sure I'm hoping for anything. 28. No idea, but it's going to make my thumb tired. 29. Stoops' fault. 30. Pretty damned drunk. Don't drive folks. 31. No comment. I don't condone violence. 32. I hope not. 33. Yep. :( 34. 1:1 35. He should. 36. No. 37. He certainly could. Guessing he will. 38. I'm not betting on it with that record. They could, and I hope they do. We'll see if these perceived changes are the real deal. 39. Yes. 40. He'll be impressive!
With all of that said, if I *had* to pick one to stick with and play 99% of the time, I'd name Allen as the starter. I think he gives A&M the best chance to win right now and he showed as much on Saturday. But the added value of Murray is simply too great to leave sitting on the bench.
Even during the recruiting process Sumlin was vocal and pretty clear to Murray that he would see significant time as a true freshman. I don't see this as a controversy at all. One of the rare times when two quarterbacks can be utilized and utilized successfully. Allen was knocking the cobwebs off and Murray will need a period of adjusting to the speed and competitiveness of college ball. I think I expected slightly better play from both on Saturday, but wasn't surprised by the issues each of them had and definitely wasn't surprised by the fact that both played significant minutes... Sumlin has made that clear since last Spring.
What date range? Since 1894? Sensitive Longhorn... calm down. And 6 out of 19 wins isn't a 'large majority.' And if you're talking about my 'since '75' date range, notice I started off with saying that A&M has been dominated by UT. So, for the sake of making you happy, let's take away 5 Aggie wins in the mid 80's, in years where UT still had better recruiting classes... still not as massively lopsided as it had been since the beginning of the rivalry. That was my point. Strides have been made to strengthen the A&M program since then and it's working. Now that it's spelled out for you, and you can't latch on to the least important part of what I wrote above, how can you argue against the logic that A&M *may* not have wanted to play UT yet? Beside saying 'because they're stupid aggies.'
You know, I get it either way. You have to understand, as an objective Aggie fan, we have been dominated by UT historically (even though since '75 it's been dead even at 19-18 with the Aggies having a one game advantage - but the 20+ years before that the Ags only pulled off one, yes one, win). The decision to move on from the Big XII and UT's shadow was, as we called it, a 100 year decision. There were rumors that A&M wouldn't step onto a field with UT for at least 10 years. I get that. Remove ourselves from the perceived bully. Don't let emotions and the romanticism of rekindling the burning desire to beat the hell outta t.u get in the way of the larger plan, which is to distance ourselves from UT and stand on our own two feet. Again, as an objective Aggie (I'll keep repeating this because there are quite a few Ags out there that seem to be filled with a lot of guff that gets in the way of sound discussion) I do think we would have won the game (2014 Texas Bowl) vs UT, but even if there is a 25% chance we would have lost, I don't think it's worth it at this point. I would LOVE to see this game this year. These are my two favorite teams... I grew up in Austin in a family of Longshorns (grandparents, aunts/uncles, parents, siblings) and I broke the mold and went to A&M (and loved every second of it)... and I would love to see them play! But, and here's another point, I would rather a few more years go by with both teams having progressed a bit more toward where it seems they are going. How incredible would it be if the first time they met again was when each was 10-2 or better?! Getting these two teams back on the field would have been one of the best match-ups of the bowl seasons (and I'm not terribly excited about WV) but A&M, without a doubt, has more to lose than UT with a loss. Our plan has worked thus far... even with a very lack luster (aside from the W at Auburn) season, we are still making strides that, if handled responsibly and without being short sighted, are changing the dynamics of college football in the state of Texas (not to mention the rest of the country). And that is much bigger and much more important than one game with our old rival. Gig 'em and BTHOtu!!
