I'm not saying I don't agree with you but this committee has proven in the past that they don't really care how you lose or who you lose too but rather at what time of year did you lose. Oregon has no business making the playoff over a 1 loss UGA or Cincy IMO, not only the loss to Stanford but close calls against a bad Cal team and middling UCLA.
Recent past successes or failures should have no bearing on whether you make the playoffs. Each season should be judged independently. Using your logic, are you saying we should give Clemson a pass this season because recent history tells me they are good and this season is just a fluke.
With new schemes and coaches this was never going to be a break out season its a transition year, take Arkansas last year they won 3 games but you could tell they were moving in the right direction. The dropped passes and overthrows aside, I still feel UT is moving in the right direction, guys are getting open, the opportunities are there.
While I agree you shouldn’t Crown or Bench a guy off one performance, after his performance as a whole last night I can’t see how he was the best option to start. I agree with your point of having 3 weeks on a new team with a new system but what does that say about Hooker and Bailey who have had all Spring and Summer, it’s hard to imagine they didn’t have an edge over Milton considering how he performed. It’s hard not to think about when Pruitt would talk about how JG was the best QB in practice but on game days he was so frustrating to watch, I’d hate to go down that road again, and have the MVP of practice not show up on game days.
It's not the stats that worry me as much as all the shortcomings that he had at Michigan seem to still be there. No one will question his arm talent, but he held on to the ball for a long time, either he has poor field vision or BG secondary was all over our WRs, I'm going to side with the former considering Coach mentioned he missed some wide open opportunities. The run game won't be as potent against a better team in Pitt, going to need a QB to win that game, and from what I saw tonight, if he is the best option I am very worried for the season ahead.
