Ha, as a Bama fan I can say that I'm pretty sure A&M didn't need ole Jimbo for that come from behind whoopin the other day. Our guys provided all they needed in the form of lots of fastballs over the heart of the plate and some juicy hanging curves for them to smash to the gap or over the wall. And they did.
Sorry, it messed up the spacing of the data when I hit enter. To summarize: -Fla is 19-16 in SEC, LSU 18-15 (overall records virtually identical as well -RPI: UF 11, LSU 25 -SOS: UF 12, LSU 19 -Non-conf SOS: UF 23, LSU 205 -wins vs top 50: UF 14, LSU 12 -Record last 15 games: UF 12-3, LSU 9-6
I've never seen so many fans of a team with RPI #25 claiming they should get to host. All over social media. But the facts say otherwise. The SEC records of Florida, Auburn & LSU are close to identical. They don't stop counting at the end of the reg season. The criteria as laid out say clearly that the committee considers the conf record to be the reg season games plus tourney games. That's: Fla 19-16 LSU 18-15 Aub 16-14 So LSU ends up essentially even on conf record and UF is better in virtually every other listed criteria. NC wins vs Last 15 Team Record RPI SOS SOS top 50 games Fla 39-21 12 11 23 14 12-3 Aub 37-19 14 14 55 13 8-7 LSU 38-20 25 19 205 12 9-6 H2H: LSU 2-1 over UF, Aub 2-1 over LSU Florida is a lock to host at this point. Auburn I'd say 50-50. LSU slim chance. won't surprise me if LSU goes on the road and wins a regional and then takes some team to the wire in a super. But they won't host because they didn't earn it.
Says a fan of the school known by EVERY SEC coach, and every recruiting guru, and every recruit and their parents, to be the cheatingest program in the USA
Every coach in AU history is the greatest thing ever when hired and while working for AU (remember the Messiah himself Tony Franklin and the Boom Brothers were gonna be the most unstoppable combo in football history and I could go on and on). Until ... the talking point changes and you all decide said coach is a problem, not a savior. Then you trash him to all who will listen. I literally never heard one single word about any of what you posted about Craig until he left. While he was at AU, he was an outstanding coach, great recruiter, super mentor for the players, etc. Some may say "oh all fans are like this." Nope, the cult that is AU fans is on a level all their own.
D. Craig will be hired by Nick Saban and be on Alabama's staff within the next 2 weeks. Bama has 2 openings with WR coach Napier going to Az St as OC plus the new 10th full time coach approved by NCAA. One of the hires will be Craig. Count on it.
Good lord, quit embarrassing yourself. Let's see: (1) Fournette will be one of the top few picks of the 1st round. NFL GM's and college and pro coaches and every living person who knows football are aware that Fournette is a big time player. (2) He indeed only gained 30 something yards on Bama each of the last 2 seasons. Why? Because Bama's defense is among the most dominant in history, especially against the run AND LSU's offense, their QB's, their offensive coaches have all been so deficient that they were no threat to pass successfully. There are no RB's anywhere who would have succeeded in the spot Fournette was in against us. (3) He umm ... won't wash out in the NFL - lol.
Someone recently said "I do believe that nowadays you have to run the spread offense"
Hey Nobleman69, I agree with your comments. Just thought I would add that the "UAT" thing is so 20 years ago. g
All the criticism of your article in this thread is 100% valid. But rather than address the substance of the complaints, you dismissively inform us you are a "Biletnikoff voter" lol. Here are some facts: (1) there is no evidence AL and LSU are "competing" for an OC (2) You say "assuming there is an ace candidate" and proceed with 5 paragraphs of make believe as though Mister Ace OC will be deciding between AL and LSU. (3) There have been numerous published reports that LSU has vetted 4 or 5 candidates in case they missed on Kiffin (2 or 3 of whom are outstanding and will likely take the job if offered). That is ... umm, literally the definition of having a Plan B. So to end your article with "if he ever had one" means you either have no actual knowledge of the topic about which you write, OR you lie for the fun of it.
The most reliable few members of the media who cover Alabama are the ones reporting it. Kirk Herbstreit also. I happen to know Lane departed on a 7:33 central time flight down there.
Lane wants to be a HC, period. And he can't get anything better right now. Missing out on bigger jobs has FINALLY caused him to realize that he has to fix the reputation he has among AD's and Presidents. Everybody knows he's a great OC. Continuing to do that at LSU or Bama isn't doing him any good in his desire to be a big time head coach again. It will show some humility to take the FAU job, and if he can succeed there and show improved integrity, he can get a bigger job later.
Land Kiffin has accepted the head coaching job at FAU. It will be announced shortly. He will stay on to coach the Alabama offense and call they plays in the playoff. As an intriguing aside, Lane in Boca. hmm. And not far from South Beach. Certainly a target rich environment one might say
Houston Board of Regents Chair Tilman Fertitta is a complete loud mouthed blow hard moron. It is not his job to interview coaches and leak details to the media and spew ultimatums. His job is to consider the candidate recommended by the AD and President and approve or not. And shut up! Sunday it was Les Miles - perfect candidate with experience and won't be trying to leave. Monday it was Kiffin, then it wasn't because of the buyout, then it was gonna be him in the end after all. Tuesday was Lincoln Riley Day. He killed it - will be hired before the end of the week. Wednesday it was going to be Orlando - he could keep the staff together and keep things going like Herman had them. Today it was Kiffin again. Then NO NO we have not offered anyone. Then the Trustee lists the names, talks about specifics, mentions they did not even interview Fedora, blah blah. All major no-no's. To repeat, Tilman Fertitta must have a bunch of money because he is a dimwit who is way over his head.
1) He would not be paid more. LSU never has and never will be able to outbid Alabama 2) Kiffin and Orgeron are not close friends. They have worked together. 3) McElwain is the head coach at Florida, Kirby Smart the head coach at Georgia, and Kiffin is about to be the head coach at Houston. Surely you don't actually believe being a coordinator under Orgeron at LSU is a better way to become a head coach than working for Saban. 4) Finally, whether Saban and Kiffin "get along" doesn't matter. But it does appear Saban thinks it is time to move on, but its not going to be to LSU. It will be Houston or if not, USF
LOL. Well he is not only 1st Team All SEC, he is the Offensive Player of the Year as voted by the Coaches and the AP. He also quarterbacks a team that 13-0, SEC Champions, and about to be National Champions.
I love Myles Garrett, but no way he deserves first team All-SEC for 2016. It is about production, not talent, and his injuries made it impossible for him to warrant 1st team. I agree with you on Josh Reynolds. Evans is where he belongs IMO, on 2nd team. Football is a team sport and when your team has a total collapse for the last half of the season, your stars don't still make 1st team All SEC just because.
As is usually the case, the AP selections are much better than the "coaches". They can't vote for their own guys and they are very busy so they hand the ballot to their SID's. This is an accurate representation of the actual best performing in players in the SEC this year.
Mark this down and check my accuracy in a few weeks. Lane Kiffin will be the HC at Houston, Charlie Strong will the HC at USF. Alabama's will hire either Major Applewhite or Mark Helfrich as OC, and LSU will hire Sarkisian as OC. There are conflicting views among Bama insiders about whether Lane will stay on and coach Bama's offense in the CFP. If not, Billy Napier will be the interim OC and play caller.
Continuity is not the goal, pal. Winning is, winning big. You can't do that and also have continuity without being in a power 5 conference.
What is the goal? To continue to have an outstanding program, or to find some coach who will stay a long time? Despite having 3 coaches who went on to bigger jobs, Houston has kept winning big. As long as you are an AAC school, success means you will lose coaches. Not gonna change. Is the writer of this article advocating mediocrity for the sake of stability over winning big? He must be because when you are in a group of 5 conference, winning big means coaches will leave. But it beats the heck out of being average.
Football is a team sport. You cannot be the key player, the leader of a team which so thoroughly fails to live up to expectations and be the 1st Team All SEC QB. The SEC East is akin to Conference USA this year, and the Vols could not even win the East. On the 1st team offense, 12 of 12 are from the West, 3 of 3 on special teams from West, and 7 of 11 on defense. No SEC QB was deserving of being 1st Team All SEC, but Jalen was moreso than anyone else.
