Excuse…five guys out with injury related to the turf…that’s just a statement, not an excuse. Defense has to stop the run. No excuses for them getting gashed.
Best thing that could have happened for UT in this game is that it is a 3:30 game and the UGA game is a night game. They can focus on Mizzou and then (IF, and it is a big if, they win) they can go see if Ole Miss can pull off a miracle.
Correct on your beat down, but let’s remember that TCU changed up everything per being tipped off last year.
EKingGill...have you looked at the OOC schedules for everyone. Tennessee's is not good but good grief some others are just as bad if not worse. UGA, Auburn, Kentucky, MSU, and Ole Miss are awful!
If they fell to 7…they would still be at 5 now…not sure the point. They still have two wins over top 10 teams. The three in front of them have a combined total of 0. UGA has one…maybe two but I can’t remember where Oregon is at? It is UGA and a mess behind them trying to figure it out.
I wish you were right, but I think UT needs help...TCU and USC win out and UT does not get in. They need one of those to lose and then I think they are in. I realize LSU can beat UGA and throw everything for a loop, but I personally don't see it happening.
They may notice the 13th ranked defensive team in college football coming into the game gave up 66 (or 59 for those still complaining). Tennessee is going to give up points…that’s been a given almost all year. But you can give up 24 when you score 66.
Completely agree that his comment makes no sense. Now, if UGA wins then I feel fairly confident Ut gets in after Oregon got beat. USC is still sitting there and could sneak in if they win PAC10/12…whatever number.
meant to include loser of OSU and Michigan in one loss teams as well.
For what it is worth... Whichever team wins this game...they have the obvious edge for the final 4. The losing team is going to have to pull for the winner to win out. In that scenario, Bama (assuming they win out regular season) would be a 2 loss team (losing the SEC Championship) and they are out. Then help is needed...either Michigan or OSU is going to go undefeated...they play no one except each other. So one of them will be out. You then need Clemson or TCU to lose a game. That would leave two undefeated teams in the winner of SEC and Big10. You would then have a mess of one loss teams...TCU, Clemson, loser of UT/UGA (assuming they win out) and possibly Oregon or USC. Being SEC biased I think either UGA or UT would make it in that scenario...but need Clemson and/or TCU to fall!
Completely agree…coming of all the emotion of last week, I will be shocked if they can produce the same amount of intensity. Lackluster effort is my gut feeling. Hope I’m wrong.
The road to the SEC Championship runs through Athens. No doubt about that! As a Vol…yesterday was more than trying to win the SEC…15 years of misery finally has an end.
I completely agree with most of this...especially the fact that the two teams are in opposite conferences. This is a game that either team "could" afford to lose and still make it to the SEC championship. I will say that Milroe may have road experience but he does not have Neyland experience and that place will be on another level come Saturday.
19-21...Ole Miss did have to vacate wins due to violations, which changes his record to something not very good...I believe 6-34, but could be wrong.
If there are fans out there not giving UGA credit, then they are nothing short of idiotic. UGA is loaded...everywhere! Only question mark could be the O-line and maybe QB but Bennett looks good, and the OL looked very solid against Auburn. The defense is as good as any team in the nation. This game could be majorly impacted by weather and that is something that could change the outcome as turnovers could become a huge factor. Tennessee is closing the gap, but they are not there yet, I don't believe (a year or two away). Close in the first half, then UGA pulls away in the second half. 27-13. UGA is really good...this from any rationale Vols fan...no orange colored glasses!
Couldn't agree with you more. Would love to see him in Atlanta, with a chip on his shoulder.
It was messy in the way it happened. As Weagle99 stated...he just kind of up and left in the middle of the night. It was just not done very professionally. Matter of fact it was real ugly in the way he did it. I will say this, even as a Tennessee fan that was ticked because of the situation it left UT in, I don't fault him for wanting to take his dream job. I thought he was crazy to do it with all the mess USC was dealing with, but he felt this was the pinnacle.
seriously?!?! As a UT fan I will completely disagree. Should we be ranked...maybe at 24 or 25 but come on. LSU hung with Bama...we did not...we lost to USCe, that is enough to not be ranked as they just got it handed to them by Florida with a backup. Tennessee could easily have lost five games at this point (App St. and UGA). I realize they didn't but the loss to USCe is a killer. Win out and they will be back in the top 25 until the SEC Championship game. And GEAUX TIGERS!!!
Very kind words Gator! Hopefully he is back on the field against UF...you guys have looked very good so far!
As i said to one of my colleagues last night...the difference in Alabama and LSU and several others is they come out and manhandle lower level teams..and I believe that starts with Saban and Miles. For some reason Tennessee has failed to do that under Jones...they do not have that killer instinct. They won last night...didn't deserve the win, but they won. We will see what this team is like in the next week and several following. On a positive for UT fans...sit back and enjoy the weekend as everyone else now gets to sweat out their games. It was ugly in every way...but I would rather win ugly than be on the other side. And an interesting stat...not a good one, but an interesting one...that is the second win in the Butch Jones era when trailing at halftime...the other...last year vs. UGA.
