Honestly, I think it's because Auburn fans seem to travel better than Georgia fans... thus making more money for the bowl.
First, let it be known that I deeply respect all of the aforementioned coaches, but I think one aspect of Gus Malzahn’s coaching that gets overlooked is his ability to tailor his system to his players’ abilities. I think Malzahn is able to adapt WAY more than some of y’all give him credit for. While I agree that in a perfect world Malzahn has to have the right personnel to run his offense, he also has an incredible knack for playing up individual strengths and working around weaknesses. The fact that he would be able to take a player like Nick Marshall, recognize his innate athletic ability and skills, and build an extremely successful team around him is remarkable. Then on the other hand, in 2009, his first season as Auburn’s offense coordinator, he coached quarterback Chris Todd (a pass first, run never player) to set the single-season record at Auburn with 22 touchdown passes and 2,612 passing yards. It will be very interesting to see what he does with the more pro-style Jeremy Johnson next year!
