Alex Fudge is reportedly leaving the Florida basketball team after 1 season.

Fudge has informed Gators coaches that he plans to forego his remaining collegiate eligibility and declare for the 2023 NBA Draft, according to Jacob Rudner of 247Sports.

The Fudge news comes as a surprise to many UF fans. In the 2022-23 campaign, Fudge appeared in 32 of 33 games, making 11 starts. He averaged 5.8 points and 4.5 rebounds over 19.5 minutes per game. Fudge, a 6-9, 200-pound forward, was second on the team in blocked shots with 25.

In his season with the Gators, Fudge posted a pair of double-doubles against Florida A&M (16 points, 10 rebounds) and Ohio (13 points, 10 rebounds). He also scored 16 points, his season-high, against Stony Brook.

Fudge, a Jacksonville, Florida native, began his career at LSU. In 2021-22 he made 29 appearances for the Tigers, averaging 3.3 points and 3.2 rebounds per contest.

Fudge has not yet made an announcement of his own.  The 2023 NBA Draft is set for June 22.
