Anthony Richardson is among the Florida Gators adapting to the new regime of Billy Napier and his staff.

The budding star at quarterback shared some of his first impressions following practice on Tuesday. For starters, spring ball officially begins the third phase on Napier’s eight-phase program within a given year.

“It’s different,” Richardson said, via Swamp247. “Before we even started installing plays we would meet up a little just to understand the terminology and understand how they process things. They’re coaching us hard. They’re moving fast so we have to pick up things like this.”

Napier announced Tuesday that Richardson was cleared, there are still limitations on the quarterback

“We are kind of limiting the type of concepts he’s running in terms of putting him in position to where he has to move around too much. A little bit of a quick whistle,” Napier said. “Our quarterbacks are always non-contact. But for the most part, today he participated just like he would participate if he didn’t have the surgery and if he wasn’t returning from injury.”

While he admitted there’s a ways to go, Napier was pleased overall. The program has adapted to Napier’s systematic and process-oriented approach.

“I thought we were prepared, we were organized, I thought the effort was good from the players,” Napier said. “We faded a little bit at the end, but if we’re doing it the right way then that probably is going to happen. Overall, I just think the effort overall was good and thought the staff was well-prepared and it was organized and efficient.”
