Anthony Richardson had a big night for the Florida Gators in a 35-14 win over FAU at The Swamp.

The young quarterback only threw for 40 yards in relief of starter Emory Jones, but he made some big plays with his legs, running for 160 yards and a touchdown.

Meanwhile, Jones struggled, throwing 1 touchdown pass and 2 interceptions. That, naturally, led to some Florida fans and media members wondering if it was time to give Richardson a shot at the starting job.

But, coach Dan Mullen downplayed any controversy, reiterating that Jones was the starter in his postgame press conference. Additionally, Richardson took to Twitter to throw his support behind his teammate:

That’s a classy gesture from Richardson. He didn’t have to post anything at all, but he decided to support his teammate.

Even if Jones remains the starter, though, we can probably expect to see Richardson get some more playing time moving forward.
