Anthony Richardson’s reported status for Florida-South Carolina game
By SDS Staff
Published:
Anthony Richardson will reportedly only be available in an emergency for Florida on Saturday night at South Carolina.
Edgar Thompson of the Orlando Sentinel shared the news.
#Gators QB Anthony Richardson (concussion) feeling well, but expected to be emergency QB at SC. ‘Would be surprised’ if played otherwise, am told. Not surprising news.

Earlier this week, Thompson broke the news that Richardson was in concussion protocol. Richardson, a redshirt freshman, made his first start in Week 9 against No. 1 Georgia but left the game early in the third quarter after being tackled by UGA linebacker Adam Anderson. Richardson was relieved by redshirt junior Emory Jones, the starter of Florida’s previous 7 games this season.
Besides Jones and Richardson, Florida has 2 true-freshman scholarship quarterbacks: Carlos Del Rio-Wilson and Jalen Kitna. Neither has played this season.
The Florida-South Carolina game is set for 7:30 p.m. ET, airing on the SEC Network.
