Dante Fowler is looking for a new NFL home. The Atlanta Falcons announced the release of the former Florida pass-rusher on Wednesday.

Fowler played 2 seasons in Atlanta. He originally signed a 3-year, $45 million deal with the Falcons ahead of the 2020 season, but restructured his contract in 2021 ahead of training camp and voided the 2022 portion of his deal. This past season, Fowler logged 21 tackles, 3 forced fumbles and 4.5 sacks, one half of a sack short of a $1 million incentive in his contract.

Fowler was the No. 3 overall pick by the Jacksonville Jaguars in the 2015 NFL Draft. He tore his ACL ahead of his rookie season and did not make his regular-season debut until 2016. In his career, Fowler has played in 91 games (40 starts), recording 200 tackles (44 for loss), 35 sacks, 59 QB hits, 10 forced fumbles and 5 fumble recoveries.

Fowler had 11.5 sacks, a career year, in 2019 with the Los Angeles Rams, which led to his big deal with the Falcons. We’ll see where the outside linebacker/defensive end lands next.
