Billy Napier has discussed tampering before, but he brought up the subject again on Tuesday at the SEC Meetings in Destin, Florida.

However, Napier mentioned that at least in the SEC, where players cannot transfer in the league and be eligible immediately that the issue does not linger. Napier added that with the other 13 SEC coaches, he just has to fend off them once and not twice like rest of the country. But it’s still a cut-throat business with the rest of the country.

“We’re all playing the same game, but have different rules in some part,” Napier said. “There’s no doubt tampering is real and is an issue. Until something is done about it, it will continue.”

Napier also reacted to the Georgia series being extended in Jacksonville through 2025, and the idea of eventually moving to a home-and-home formate: “This is beneficial for both sides of the equation. It’s good for the city of Jacksonville. I think there are economics that affect this decision, ultimately that’s what it comes down to.”
