Billy Napier is keeping a Florida off-field staffer, but assigning him a new role.

Florida announced Friday that Corey Bell will be part of Napier’s staff as a quality control coach working with running backs.

Bell was Florida’s secondary coach for the 2017 season under Jim McElwain. After Dan Mullen took over and made new staff hires, Bell landed at UCF as the team’s cornerbacks coach for 3 seasons (2018-20). Ahead of the 2021 season, Bell returned to UF, joining Mullen’s staff as director of player personnel, an off-field position.

Florida announced Bell’s new role after it was reported he was interested in returning to Miami, where he worked on Randy Shannon’s staff. Shannon was UCF’s defensive coordinator when Bell was the cornerbacks coach. Bell, a Miami native, played football at South Carolina, graduating in 1995.
