Colin Castleton, Florida’s center, has taken time recently to reflect on his basketball future, especially given the coaching change with the Gators.

Now Castleton, who led Florida in scoring and rebounding this past season, with an average of 16.2 points and 9.0 rebounds per game, has announced plans to return to Gainesville next season. He made 10 double-doubles on the season and also managed to block 2.2 shots per game.

“The past couple weeks have helped me reflect on the season, as well as give me time to decide what’s next for my future,” Castleton wrote. “Thank you to my family and everyone who has helped me make this decision. Everyone’s process is different, and I’m adding another chapter to mine. Gator Nation, I’m back!”

This is the second straight year Castleton has weighed the NBA, but decided to return to school.

Last year, after he was a second-team All-SEC selection when he scored 12.4 points and grabbed 6.4 rebounds, the 6-foot-11, 231-pounder out of Deland, Florida (Father Lopez Catholic) chose to return to school after he didn’t get a favorable report from the NBA scouts.

Recently, Todd Golden shared his thoughts on the issue, before this announcement.

“If Colin has a great opportunity to make significant of money, he should go do that,” said Golden, per 247Sports, who added that he expects Castleton to make a decision in the near future. “But if you can’t, why don’t you come back and be a rock star for a year and lead us back to the tournament and you’ll have more of an opportunity?”
