Former Florida and current Houston Texans running back Dameon Pierce picked up his first NFL touchdown Sunday afternoon on a 1-yard run to give the Texans the lead over the Chicago Bears.

Pierce picked up 33 yards in his first game and 69 yards in his second game, but wasn’t able to score. He finally got his chance Sunday. He’s having a good game so far, recording 66 yards and a touchdown in the first half.

The Texans lead the Bears 14-13 at halftime.

Pierce played at Florida from 2018 to 2021 where he amassed 1,806 yards and 23 touchdowns across his career. Pierce was taken in the 4th round of the 2022 NFL Draft. Former Florida coach Dan Mullen was questioned heavily on social media for not using Pierce more as it became clear he was going to be the Texans’ starting running back as a rookie.

This was Pierce’s first NFL TD, yes, but it definitely won’t be his last.
