Florida linebacker Jeremiah Moon exited last Saturday’s game against Georgia with a foot injury. And unfortunately for the Gators, he won’t be coming back soon.

On Thursday, Florida head coach Dan Mullen announced on his weekly radio show that Moon will miss the rest of the season due to the injury. Mullen had previously stated that Moon was expected to miss a decent amount of time, but now it’s official that the linebacker won’t be back on the field this year.

Moon, a redshirt junior, had 30 tackles and three sacks in nine games for Florida this season. He was only one tackle away from matching his career high, which he set last year.

It’ll certainly be a blow to the Gators’ defense moving forward, as Moon played a big role in their pass rush. However, he’ll be back next year for his senior season and will likely continue to develop for Florida.

As the No. 10 Gators move on without Moon, they’ll face Vanderbilt at home on Saturday. Florida and Vandy are set to kick off at noon ET on ESPN.
