Dan Mullen will reportedly interview for an NFL job in the coming days.

“According to a source, Gators head coach Dan Mullen has an interview with the NY Jets in the next few days,” Claudia Bellofatto of WCJB in Gainesville, Florida, tweeted Friday night.

However, multiple reports refuted Bellofatto’s tweet about Mullen interviewing for the job. Football Scoop’s John Brice tweeted the following.

“I am told late tonight Gators coach Dan Mullen is not and does not plan to interview with the New York Jets, per folks in direct contact with Mullen in Gainesville. Of note: I am told UF AD Scott Stricklin has not been contacted by NFL teams to speak with Mullen. That’s mandatory per NFL rules,” Brice tweeted.

Bellofatto’s report follows multiple reports from NFL insiders mentioning the Florida head coach in connection to openings in the pros. Last Saturday, NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero listed Mullen among the possible candidates for the Jets opening. Sunday, ESPN’s Adam Schefter shared that Mullen is “open to going to the pros.”

The Jets have the No. 2 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft and could be looking at drafting a franchise quarterback if the team decides to move Sam Darnold. The Jets have already interviewed Eric Bieiemy, Marvin Lewis and Robert Saleh for the position.

The news comes shortly after Mullen shared a video welcoming Florida’s 2021 early enrollees to UF campus.
