Eugene Wilson III continued Florida’s strong week in recruiting with a commitment to the Gators on Friday afternoon.

Wilson, a 4-star athlete out of Tampa, Florida, (Gaither) who is listed at 5-foot-11 and 165 pounds, announced a commitment to the Gators. He’s ranked the No. 10 athlete in the country, according to the 247Sports Composite, and the No. 30 player in the state of Florida. Wilson’s commitment follows a pair of 4-star recruits also committing to the Gators on Thursday in Treyaun Webb, a running back, and Marcus Stokes, a quarterback.

Keary Colbert recruited Wilson to the Gators, and Wilson chose Florida over the likes of Alabama and Texas A&M among 23 offers.

Here’s his scouting report from 247Sports:

A blur on tape that zigs and zags his way into the end zone. Was initially being recruited by some schools to play defensive back at the next level, but is viewed by a few College Football Playoff regulars as a slot receiver longterm after a junior season in which he averaged just under 15 yards per reception. Might lack the ideal size (believed to be close to 5-foot-11, 165 pounds), but makes up for his smaller frame with his elite play speed. Clocked the fastest 40-yard dash time out of anyone at loaded Under Armour All-America Camp in Miami spring before senior year and is pacing to break the 11 second mark in the 100-meter dash. While extra gear makes him a threat to score anytime he finds a crease in a defense, elite start-stop ability combined with superb lateral burst allows him to create chunk play after chunk play. Doesn’t have a ton of experience on the offensive side of the ball as he grew up playing primarily defense, but is a rather creative route runner that is able to shake defenders with simple jabs of the feet and head fakes. Will eventually need to add some mass if he’s ever going to run up the middle on Saturdays, but can be dangerous on jet sweeps and end arounds as he has a knack for slipping out of tackles and finding greener pastures. Should be viewed as a play-making inside receiver that can turn a short gain into a long gain in the snap of a finger. Likely to provide immediate special teams value at the school of his choice as not only a return man, but also a gunner given defensive background. Has a good chance of eventually being selected in the NFL Draft like his father, who won a pair of Super Bowls with the New England Patriots.
