The Atlanta Falcons announced Friday that former Florida Gators outside linebacker Dante Fowler will be out Sunday against the Miami Dolphins and he has been placed on injured reserve, per Pro Football Talk.

Fowler, who is expected to be out two weeks or more, has started five games this year and has made 12 tackles, 2 sacks, 3 quarterback hits, 2 forced fumbles, and 2 tackles for losses. This was tough news for a team that has been struggling on defense this year to lose one of its best players for a while.

Fowler was the first-round draft choice of the Jacksonville Jaguars coming out of Gainesville. He played for them for 3 years, then moved on to the LA Rams in 2018, before he signed with the Falcons in 2020.

While at Florida, Fowler was also a first-team All-SEC player in 2014.
