On a big recruiting weekend, Florida added to its 2021 class with a new commitment from an in-state tight end.

Episcopal School of Jacksonville tight end Nick Elksnis pledged to the Gators on Saturday, becoming commit No. 14 in UF’s 2021 class, which is currently ranked No. 2 nationally and No. 1 in the SEC on the 247Sports Composite. He shared the big news via his Twitter account, writing, “After much thought and prayer, I am overjoyed to announce my commitment to the University of Florida. I was raised a Gator by my grandmother and now it’s time to play as one!!” tagging Florida head coach Dan Mullen, tight ends coach Tim Brewster and others.

Elksnis’ verbal pledge to UF was expected by many after he decommitted from Penn State six days ago. He’s the second 2021 tight end to commit to Brewster, who joined Mullen’s staff last month after the departure of Larry Scott (now head coach at Howard).

Elksnis is listed at 6-6, 220 pounds and rated 3-stars, the No. 15 tight end, No. 60 Florida product and No. 380 prospect overall nationally on the Composite. In addition to Florida, he received 23 other scholarship offers, including Florida State, LSU, Miami, Mississippi State, South Carolina and Tennessee. His highlights can be viewed below.
