Florida has officially hired former Georgia linebacker Christian Robinson to coach its linebackers.

The move was first reported on Thursday night. On Friday, the Gators confirmed it.

The 27-year-old former Georgia linebacker played under Gators defensive coordinator Todd Grantham when he was at UGA from 2010 through 2013. Robinson played from 2009 to 2012.

He started 17 games during his Georgia career, compiling 159 total tackles to go along with 4.5 career sacks.

Last season, Robinson helped coach Mississippi State’s linebackers with Grantham serving as the DC, according to a report form Edward Aschoff — who first broke the news. Robinson also helped coach Ole Miss’ defensive line as a graduate assistant in 2015 and 2016.

Robinson replaces Tim Skipper on the Gators’ staff. The up-and-coming coach is considered by some to be a “rising star” in the profession.

One SEC coach apparently told Aschoff recently:

“In five years, everyone will be like ‘Wow,’” when it comes to his coaching ability.
