On Saturday, 2017 4-star OT prospect Kai-Leon Herbert decided to renege on his longtime commitment to Michigan.

Herbert is a versatile prospect — possessing the traits needed to play at either tackle spot — as well as inside at a guard position. A native of Fort Lauderdale, Herbert appears ready to stay closer to home:

The 6-foot-5 athlete took a trip to Auburn last weekend, was in Coral Gables this weekend, and will head to Gainesville the final weekend before National Signing Day on Feb. 1.

Florida in particular has a need for offensive linemen. The unit has struggled the last few years when it came to running the football. While Herbert may not be an immediate-impact player, he’s certainly a gifted prospect.

It will be fascinating to see whether Florida can woo Herbert. Fortunately for the Gators, they get the last shot to make an impression before Herbert makes his decision.
