Florida coach Jim McElwain provides injury update on CB Duke Dawson, others
Before leaving Saturday’s huge win over Tennessee with a head injury, Florida CB Duke Dawson made an impact, snagging a key interception as the Vols were inside the Gators’ 10-yard line.
If the Gators are going to extend their 30-game winning streak over Kentucky to 31 this coming weekend, having the senior defender back will be a big boost.
Fortunately for Florida, there was some good news on Dawson on Wednesday afternoon. After not practicing on Tuesday, coach Jim McElwain said Dawson was back in a limited capacity on Wednesday:
Mac said CB Duke Dawson did individual drills, but still awaiting clearance from concussion protocol. Goolsby a go, Kylan Johnson doubtful.

McElwain added that Dawson has yet to be cleared from concussion protocol, but if he’s back doing individual drills, it’s at least a sign that he’s feeling better.
Meanwhile, the Gators will also have TE DeAndre Goolsby back, which could be a big help for QB Feleipe Franks and the offense.
Saturday’s game at Kentucky kicks off at 7:30 p.m. Eastern time and can be seen on the SEC Network.
