Florida coach Randy Shannon discusses QB Feleipe Franks' play, calls out WRs for drops
Though it wasn’t against an SEC squad, the Florida Gators did look good in a big 36-7 win over a bowl-eligible UAB team on Saturday in Gainesville.
Redshirt freshman QB Feleipe Franks had a strong game, completing 15 of his 30 passes for 150 yards and two touchdowns in the win.
Though that completion percentage isn’t exactly great, interim coach Randy Shannon blamed the receivers for not doing their jobs. Shannon praised Franks’s play during his Monday press conference:
"He didn't try to force any passes," Shannon said of Franks' performance against UAB. "He did some good things for us."

Shannon: 'Not really happy with the receivers. They dropped too many passes.'

The Gators are now 4-6 with a rivalry game against a struggling Florida State team this weekend. Franks will be tested against Florida State’s strong defense and will need the help of his receivers to lead the Gators to victory.
It’s safe to say the offense will focus heavily on making sure passes are caught this week as they prepare for a big game against the Seminoles.
